Chapter 11 - Redemption

In the land of Babylon, there was a 20 year-old girl named Farrah and her father Abdul walking through the city getting some groceries for their house, when two men tried to rob them in broad daylight. The two men almost got away until they are clothesline with their neck nearly snapping. When Farrah and Abdul catches up they see a homeless black boy with a beard and dark look in his eye.

Farrah: Thank you sir.

???: You're welcome

Abdul: Is everything alright. We can repay you if you like?

???: No its fine, I just don't like people that pay on the innocent.

Adbul: well if you ever need anything, just et us know.

The man walks away and waves his hand away "Will do sir, just glad I could help".

Farrah looks on with a curious look on her face, as if she knows the man from somewhere. The man walks back to his apartment, limping and hurting. He flops down in his chair, and looks up at his ceiling as the fan above him continues to rotation. He reflect over his life and the decision he has made, he close his eyes and he begins to have PTSD flashes of his past. He soon wakes up and notice that it morning as his alarm clock goes off. He looks up at the ceiling and thinks to himself "Damn is this how my life is destined to pan out?". A question that many will ask in their life time. Many think rushed through his head, and he put his face in his hand and breath a sigh of stress and anxiety. He gets up from his chair and goes to his bathroom where he look into the mirror of what he becomes. When he looks at his reflection and his life flashes before his eyes and punches the mirror in fear of looking at his true self. He look into the cracked mirror and is disgusted by what he sees.

Neo: What have you become Neo?

Neo storms out of his apartment and goes walking through Babylon village, wearing a hoodie to hide his identity. Neo makes his way to the flea market and in order to buys some food and clothes. While he's there he has a little conversation with on of the store owners selling some fruit and he discover the name of the store owner Mrs. Ann.

Mrs. Ann: you from around here?

Neo: not really.

Ann: don't worry we are all foreigners in some shape or form.

Neo: What made you want to open up shop here.

Ann: I set up the shop in order to get by and have something to live off of. I sell these fruit as a way to make a earning. Look at these fruits as a good deed. You plant a seed and you watch it grow. Consider these fruits that I'm selling a seed I'm planting. A mutual exchange. Now I'm 50 years old right now but I have much more to offer and this is only a small step for what is to come.

Neo: we all have a purpose I suppose. But how do one find purpose.

Ann: keep seeking. Me personally I believe that people are out here to serve others.

Neo: serve others?

Ann: That's right

Now leave the store with a better understating of life. He always spent time growing up helping others, overcoming challenges; but now he faces his biggest question: Can he help himself? Even after all the irreversible things he has done in the past. He sees Farrah and Abdul once again. Farrah run to him as Neo turns around an hide his face.

Farrah: hey you. You're the one who help us when those men were trying to rob us.

Neo: yes what bring you by.

Farrah: well we never got to thank you for helping us the other day and we wanted to treat you for some lunch.

Neo: no thanks.
