"Come on, come on! It's just a slit." He sat in his room with a blade to his wrist. He had it all written down and now all that was left to do was a slit on his wrist, some pain and then I'll be free. Once and for all, he thought.

He had been planning this for some time. Suicide is not a thing you can plan easily. However, today was his ideal day. His parents had gone to his aunt's for the weekend and he was all alone. There would be no one who could come in time to have any hope to save him. All the planning and writing down his note came to nothing. He couldn't do it. Something in him stopped him from doing so. He dropped the blade and sunk to the floor, his back to the bed.

Chase Hennings was an adopted child. He was four when Mr and Mrs Kent had adopted him. He was told that his family had died in a car crash and he had no other relation in this world. He was three when that happened and had no memories of them so for him, Mr and Mrs Kent were his parents. He had an elder brother - Jayden. Jayden was 5 years older than him and they were very close. They were one happy family until Chase was 7...

7 years old and he had myeloma(cancer). The Kents did everything they could and two years later he was fine again. Since then he is in remission. Now at the age of 17, he wants to die again. No one has ever said this to him but a part of him feels like he is a burden.

"I am adopted! I am not their child and they have to pay so much for me... And I can't even help them." he said to his only friend apart from Jayden - Griffin Beck. He called him over the next day after his third suicide attempt.
"They adopted you so you are technically their child. Also, they want to pay. They want you to get better. Come on man! You are not a burden. They love you!" he said.

"But ..." Griffin shook his head. He got up and put his hand out for him. The next day his family returned.

"Hey Chase, Catch!" said Jayden as soon as he entered the house tossing a bag toward him. Chase caught it easily and gave him a grin.

"How was your weekend alone young man?" asked Mr Kent going into the kitchen. He made up some things for Saturday and told everything about Sunday. He spent the entire day with them. However, at the end of the day, Chase still felt that he was not needed. Not wanted. A burden.

On Thursday, Chase and Jayden went to the hospital to check up on his cancer remission. He had been in complete remission for 4 years in the beginning but after that, he started showing the symptoms again.

"Oh boy! I am in no mood to talk to Dr Jessie today. Never seen someone that strict in my entire life and I have been to Wellbridge Elementary!" said Jayden as they entered the hospital. Chase chuckled. Chase had shown no symptoms in a while now.

"That's good right?" asked Jayden.

"Not considering he had a few of them just a few weeks ago. This seems a bit weird. However it can be for the better, so mostly it's nice." replied Dr Jessie.

For another couple of weeks, everything was back to normal. The school started again and Chase and Griffin were inseparable again. When one day while driving home Chase felt dizzy

"You ok?" asked Jayden.
"Yeah, just dizzy," replied Chase.

"You sure? That looked more than 'just dizzy'. Want me to stop?" asked Jayden, still concerned.

Chase shook his head and gave a reassuring smile. They drove on.

The next few days he would be quite dizzy in the car and would get super sweaty and panicky.

"It's probably just the heat. There is nothing to worry about, Mom," he told her even though it was evening and he needed the support of the table to stand straight.
