CHAPTER 03

3rd Pov:

It’s been 7 years since he was working for the president for the brain mapping project and it’s almost been only a few months since he can meet his wife and kids. He can get his freedom back.

DOV:

I've been working so hard for the past 7 years to get out of this hell hole. Only a few 6 months left and my project will be completed and I can go home to the love of my life and the kids. I miss them so much. They don’t have any idea that I am alive. After they fake my death and change my body with someone else. They told me that I couldn’t go home before I finished the project. so I’m working hard all this time only with the hope the that I will return home as soon as I finish the project. So Dr. Collier is working with me. She is also with them. She is in love with me. She tried to seduce  me for a few years. One time she caught me off guard during a party. I was drunk and we almost had sex, but I couldn’t go through it because my heart and soul belong to mer. Now we are short friends. She doesn't bother me anymore, but I know if she gets the chance again she will take it. Today I woke up early and got ready for work. I live in a small apartment provided by the government. Earlier there were guards, but after 4 years they started to trust me, so there were no guards, but they installed cctv so they could watch my moves. After the whole pandemic crisis, it’s my official first day at work. He went to work to settle down at his laboratory.

Suddenly the door opened “Der do you want some coffee”Renne asked.

He hates his nickname from her mouth, but he doesn’t tell her anything.

“Yes, that will be great” I said.

She handed me a cap of coffee and smiled at me. I smile at her politely so she can leave me alone. But today something is different in her eyes. I can’t tell what it is, but there is something.
But soon enough she opened her mouth. "Derek, it’s been 7 years. What are you waiting for? You know that your wife had moved on after all this time. Come on, go out with me. You are too uptight nowadays. You know I can help you with that?"Her words took me surprisingly.
I don’t know what to say because deep down I know there is a chance that she moved on, but how can I move on without her? I can’t think about anyone beside her.

“No Renne, I don’t think it’s a good idea. I still love my wife and I’m not uptight. I’m desperate to finish this project soon so I can go home.” I said,

“Think about it der” she said and left the room.

After that conversation, the day went smoothly. After dinner, I went to bed and the thought of Mer with someone else started haunting my dreams. But I quit thinking about it and went  to sleep with the hope that 6 months later I will meet her again.
