Third Person POV

"Chandler what on God's green earth would possess you to keep this a secret? I'm literally a doctor. And this is literally my area of expertise!" Andy exclaimed while examining Chandlers wound.

This is what he gets for doing what Laura asked him.

"I know, I'm sorry. I thought I had it handled." Chandler winced as Andy poked and prodded his shoulder. He felt exposed with his shirt off, having all his previous scars and bruises that hadn't healed yet on full display.

"That is gross as hell." Payton, who was peering over Andy's shoulder, said.

"First of all, watch your mouth. And second of all you shouldn't be watching this. Go practice for your soccer game." Andy said sternly.

"But in your defense, it is gross as hell." Chandler said before Payton left.

Her and Chandler snickered at Andy's annoyed expression as Payton left before she could get in any more trouble.

"I'm glad you find this funny, but this could've been serious Chandler." Andy said, concerned.

Chandler dropped his smile and sighed.

"I know. I would've told you but between talking to the police and getting everything sorted out I didn't really want to talk about him anymore." He said, serious.

Andy's face softened.

"I know, kid. But now taking out the stitches is gonna hurt a lot more because your skin has tried to heal around them." He explained.

"It's okay, I'm not new to pain. Just tell me before you—-AHG—" Chandler yelped as Andy poured peroxide on his shoulder and rubbed it around with a rag.

He writhed around and tried not to scream until Andy was finally done, and Chandler was left breathing heavily.

"A-a little warning next time maybe?" Chandler said painfully.

"Sorry, buddy. I'm about to pull the first stitch out." Andy warned this time.

Lots of literal blood, sweat and tears later, Chandler was bandaged up on the couch, still not allowed to put his shirt back on and drinking a chocolate milk, because after that he deserved it. Andy was outside practicing with Payton.

Then, Gena got home from work and saw Chandler sitting on the couch sipping his chocolate milk.

"Tough day?" She asked and sat next to him.

He chuckled and sat his drink on the coffee table. She just looked at him sympathetically for a minute before pulling him into her arms without saying anything.

Chandler went rigid for a moment, he still wasn't used to his mom paying attention to him, least of all being affectionate towards him.

But after a few seconds he relaxed into her hold. Even though he would never admit it, it was nice being held by her again after nine years of neglect.

He sat there, breathing in her scent until he heard her sniffle.

He looked up but didn't break away from the hug.

"Mom? Are you okay?" He asked quietly, like he was afraid of her reaction. She looked down and smiled sympathetically.

"I'm okay, baby. Just—I haven't held you like this since you were seven years old. And now you're all grown up." She explained, voice breaking at the end. Before Chandler could say anything she continued.

"And that's my fault. I should've done something...instead of getting high in my bedroom and leaving you to fend for yourself. If I could take every minute of the pain I caused you, I would. I'm so sorry." She said.

Chandler didn't say anything at first as he lowered his head back against her shoulder.

"D-do you....do you love me...mom?" Chandler asked, barely above a whisper. He knew it was stupid and childish to ask, but he needed to know. He needed that validation that he's been missing for years.

Gena's eyebrows furrowed and tears welled in her eyes.

"Oh honey, of course I love you. I know you don't have any reason to believe that after how I've treated you, but I promise you that I love you, and I always have. When your brother died I didn't know how to deal, and that's a piss poor excuse but there is nothing in the world that will ever make me treat you like that again. I know it seems like we barely know each other now, but I'm planning to change that. O-only if you want of course." Gena held onto him impossible tighter.

"Y-yeah that's okay with me." Chandler said, voice cracking as he already had tears running down his face.

Even though Chandler lived with Gena for a few months part-time, he and his mom hadn't talked like this since he was little.

They stayed there until Chandler began to feel himself drift off to sleep. Then he snapped out of it.

As much as he wanted to, he was not about to sleep in his mothers arms like a small child.

He slowly lifted out of her hold and looked at her. She had bloodshot eyes and looked like she'd start crying again at any given moment.

"You okay, mom?" Chandler asked once again.

She smiled sadly and nodded.

"Don't worry about me, I'm just fine." She said seriously and ruffled his hair lightly as she got up off the couch.

"I'm gonna offer to make dinner tonight. Least I can do with Andy letting me stay here until I get everything sorted out." She said, changing the subject and brushing her cheeks lightly.

She paused and looked at him sympathetically once more.

"You gonna be okay?" She asked.

"Yeah mom I'm okay. Promise." Chandler nodded, grabbing his phone off the coffee table as his mom made her way outside.

He noticed he'd gotten a text message from an anonymous number.
