Third Person POV

"You excited for your first day back to school, Laura?" Felix, Laura's dad, asked.

"More nervous than excited." Laura mumbled, putting on her book bag. "You? Nervous? That's a first." Elliot said, also putting on his book bag.

"Yeah I know." She replied.

"Don't be nervous. You already know these people, you'll be fine." Laura's mom, Debbie reassured.

"I think that might make it worse." She mumbled as she caught the granola bar her dad threw at her.

At School

Seeing Parker and Ava down the hallway had been a relief to Laura. She smiled brightly as she noticed the changes to them both.

Parker was a little taller and had less of a baby face, Ava pretty much looked the same with her curly brown hair and dark skin. When they saw her they couldn't believe it.

They also noticed that Laura was a bit taller, and her once short hair now came a little below her shoulders, it was wavy and she had it half up and half down.

They both hugged her tightly and bombarded her with questions.

"Whoa guys one at a time." Laura laughed.

"Okay, me first. Are you staying?" Parker asked. Laura smiled and nodded.

"Oh thank God." Ava let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. "10th and 11th grade were pretty rough. I'm so glad you're here." She smiled.

"Look...Laura about Cha—" Parker started.

"I already know. He's in Juvie." Laura cut him off, sighing. Parker's eyes suddenly went wide. "He's in Juvie?" He exclaimed. "When were you gonna tell us this? Zay?" Ava asked, equally surprised.

Zay scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "I don't know...just didn't want to spread around his business like that. He's out tomorrow though so it's not that big of a deal." He mumbled.

"Wait so if you didn't know that what were you gonna tell me?" Laura asked Parker.

"Oh...uh well, he's just kind of a jerk now. Which is understandable since Keith Brooks was bailed out of jail a few months ago. He's uh...he's not much of a joy to be around if I'm being honest..." Parker explained.

"Keith too?" Laura asked quietly.

"Yeah. Don't know why a rapist was even eligible for bail in the first place." Ava shook her head.

"The system is so screwed." Zay said, angrily.

"No way! Laura?" Autumn exclaimed as she walked up the the group. Laura smiled and hugged her. "I missed you." She said.

Autumn pulled away. "I-I missed you too. What're you doing here?" She asked. "My dad quit his job and got back his old job at the nuclear power plant a few miles from here. We got to move back." Laura smiled as she answered.

"Really? Yay!" Autumn exclaimed. (Idk what else to put excuse the cringe)

"This is the first time we've all been together in a while." Zay pointed out. "Wait, you guys don't hang out anymore? Like ever?" Laura asked.

"Not really." Parker shrugged. Laura was about to say something when she heard a familiar voice telling people to get to class. She smiled and turned around, seeing Mr. Addams. He walked over to tell the group what he'd been telling everyone else but stopped when he realized Laura was there.

"Well this is a nice surprise." He smiled. Mr. Addams looked absolutely no different.

"Hey Mr. Addams." Laura smiled.

"It's good to see you again. I'd love to stay and talk but the late bell's about to ring, you kids better get to class." Mr. Addams said and began to walk away.

Laura turned back to her friends.

"Anyone have problem stats first period?"

{Later}

It was after school, and the whole group wanted to hang out. Laura, however, wanted to go see Chandler's parents. Introduce herself, see if they actually are doing better now.

So they compromised. And they all took a trip to King's Row trailer park. (That's real but in like LA or something)

When they got there, Laura took notice of the letter R on the front door. It was a well kept trailer, perfect size for a family of three.

"Laura what's the reason for us being here?" Parker asked, getting nervous. Laura shrugged, she really didn't know herself.

She shook her head and made her way to the front steps.

"C'mon." She mumbled at her friends. When Laura knocked on the door, a blonde haired woman answered. The woman was confused but smiled at the kids nonetheless.

"Um...hi?" She laughed.

"Hey Mrs. Russell." Zay waved. The woman relaxed. "Hi, Zay. Is there something wrong?" she asked.

"No...um I'm Laura. I was one of Chandler's....friends." Laura introduced herself, not telling her that she used to be Chandler's girlfriend. She didn't know how his mom would react.

"Oh, hi! I'm Gena." She shook Laura's hand. "It's good to see he has friends other than Zay that aren't dropouts. Can I help any of you?" Gina asked.

"No, I just wanted to introduce myself. Do you mind letting Chandler know I dropped by if you see him before I do?"

"Sure thing. You kids have a good day." She said and waved as she closed the door.

They had walked down off the porch and we're headed on their way when a guy wearing a hood shouted at them.

"Hey! You friends of Russell?" The guy yelled.

"Uh sorta. Who's asking?" Parker responded reluctantly.

"Just think someone should let him know I'm gonna beat his ass if he doesn't get me those pills. I've got people expecting them and he's MIA. Where the hell is he?" The guy demanded.

No one knew what to say.

"He told me he stopped dealing." Zay mumbled quietly.
