Hello Readers! I'm just gonna start off by saying if you read this story without reading the first one, NOTHING will make sense! It is a sequel to "The World They Created" and you can find it on my page. So there's some information you'll need to re...
It was Friday, which pretty much guarantees that it was gonna be a sucky day. Plus my dad is picking me up straight from group therapy, he took today off. Lucky me.
I see Zay, Parker, Autumn and Laura by the lockers. I guess I'll stand with them.
"She's so pathetic." I hear Autumn say.
"Yeah I hate her." I agree.
"Chandler you don't even know who she's talking about." Zay says. I shrug.
"Who is it? I bet I hate her." I say. "Haleigh Ryans. Laura has been here not even a month and she's telling everyone that she's a slut. How insecure do you have to be?" Autumn explained.
"Well are you?" I ask Laura, laughing. She didn't think it was funny. Quite the opposite after and I immediately felt guilty. Not enough to let her know that though.
"I'm a virgin, you asshole." She spat. I just snickered.
"Now I'm just worried that Ava's gonna get suspended for threatening Haleigh earlier." Parker mumbled.
"It's good to know that some of you care about me. I'm gonna go find Ava and talk to her." Laura sighed and walked away. She looked sad.
I didn't mean to hurt her feelings, I was just messing around.
"Dude, what's your problem? If this were before you'd be the one screaming at Haleigh." Parker asked.
"I'm so tired of people saying 'If this were before'. It's not before and it's not my fault you guys are so childish. Who cares what Haleigh thinks?" I say, irritated.
"Well before you weren't a dick. You were you. So how about act like you did then, and people will like you more." Autumn said. I didn't know I'd strike so many nerves with a simple joke. I get it, I went too far. But is Autumn serious?
"Act like I did? Is that what will make the world happy? Because it sure as hell didn't seem to back when I was getting beat by my parents, kidnapped, and assaulted! I don't care if people don't like me, they clearly never have." I didn't mean to blow up, but it seems like people just press all the right buttons to get a reaction.
Autumn looked taken aback. I didn't have time for this, I just went ahead to first period, despite the fact that the bell hasn't even rang yet.
Later
I was walking to car line, since it was Friday and I wasn't riding the bus today. Before I left I wanted to let Zay know that he left his jacket at my house, but when I saw him he looked to be comforting someone.
A girl.
Laura.
She was crying, so I figured I would see what was going on, not out of sincerity, but out of curiosity.
Apparently, the rumor has gotten around to nearly the whole school, and now people are pretty much calling her a prostitute.
Great, now I feel bad.
"Look I didn't mean to—" I start.
"Forget it. It's not like you're the one who started the rumor. It just sucks that so many people believe her." Laura cut me off, shaking her head.
I sighed.
"We can always start up a rumor about her." Parker suggested. "Or something true. I happen to know some stuff." Autumn said.
"Spill." Laura wiped her eyes.
Autumn proceeded to tell us about how Haleigh sleeps with a guy at every party she goes to, which has me dumbfounded as to how she has the nerve to call someone else a slut. She probably has Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and the worst of all: Pregnancy.
I know slut shaming is bad but if she's doing it, it's kind of like karma right?
"Well, I gotta go, hope that whole 'exposing Haleigh Ryans' thing goes well." I say and turn to leave.
"I thought you rode the bus?" Laura said.
"Not on Fridays. On Fridays I get to talk about my special memories!" I call and keep walking.
"It's called trauma Chandler!" Zay yells, I snicker and keep walking.
Acting is my strong suit.
Later
Everything hurts again. He finally left after what seemed to be hours, but at least I've bought Payton, my mom, and now Laura some more time. How'd he even find out she was back in town?
Whatever. What am I gonna tell everyone this time? They aren't gonna believe I was jumped in the park for the second time. I'm sure my moms makeup can fix the visible stuff, other than my swollen lip.
I slipped and hit it on the counter? Yeah that'll work. And if I wear a jacket, the bruises on my arms that I can feel forming will be concealed.
It's fine, no one will know. No one can ever know.
He's gotten smarter. He started taking pictures. I can't say anything about this until the day I die.
But I can't move. What am I supposed to do? My dad will get home at 8 am and my mom a few hours after that, what do I tell them? I'm beaten and bloody and I can't move.
I guess I should try to move. But everything just hurts so bad.
Third Person POV {The next day}
Laura was so tired of all the drama going on with Haleigh. Why couldn't she just leave her alone?
She was at the library, waiting for Zay and Autumn to show up so they could work on their homework together. But her phone kept on dinging with posts on Instagram about how she's apparently slept with all the boys at her old school.
She sighed and turned her phone off, just as she did Zay and Autumn finally walk into the library.
"Took you long enough." Laura said.
"Sorry, but we brought you coffee!" Autumn said, handing Laura a frappe-chino. Laura smiled and thanked her quietly.
"Hey are Chandler and Parker coming?" Zay asked Laura, who shrugged. "Here I'll call him." Autumn said. She sighed as it continued to ring and eventually went to voicemail.
"He probably just stayed up all night playing video games and now he's still sleeping." Zay shrugged.
Laura was a little worried, but since her friends seemed to brush it off, she did too.
A/N: Soooo who do y'all think has been messing with Chandler? Leave a comment!
