Y/N tilted her head and raised her eyebrows, a sarcastic smirk across her face,
"Really?"
Loki shifted uncomfortably in his seat and looked away. Y/N sat up straight in her chair with a look of amused shock on her face,
"Oh? You're not joking... Are you?"
She wasn't able to stop the spreading smile across her face of how stupid that sounded.
"Ok... Ok... So what does that mean?", she asked as she lent forward drawn in by Loki's now very serious face.
Loki licked his lips before starting his explanation.
"The golden city you dream of, is Asgard and we dream of eachother, because we are bound to eachother... I have read of this in old, very old books, but it is not common. In fact it is extremely rare. We did meet as children, when you were living another life. Your memories of Asgard. I think our souls were bound then and the bond has awoken again now. A, second chance if you will"
Loki finished his explanation and looked to Y/N expectantly, but the look on her face wasn't what he was hoping.
"Right..."
Y/N sounded like she didn't believe a word he had said, or that it was too unbelievable an explanation to believe, but she did clock something. He said he dreamt of her too. That gave her a warm fuzzy feeling inside to know that he thought about her. She narrowed her eyes at him,
"Aren't you the God of Mischief and Lies? You could be tricking me for all I know"
Loki looked at her, he hadn't stopped looking at her the entire time.
"Do you truly think I'm lying?"
Y/N studied Loki's eyes, looking from left to right and back again. She could feel in her gut that he wasn't lying, even if he was the God of Lies.
"No... No I don't think you're lying"
Y/N needed to ask him if he had felt the same pull as her when she'd seen him.
"When I first saw you in Germany, I... I felt it", Y/N swallowed nervously, hoping he would understand what she was trying to ask, "did you? Did you feel something then?".
"I did"
"And in New York?"
Loki looked down and nodded.
Y/N took a deep breath and leaned back in the chair.
"So now what? What am I meant to do with knowing I'm somehow - reincarnated? That we're apparently soul bound"
Loki looked back at her, but then started looking around uncomfortably. He started having a bad feeling.
Y/N continued,
"Also... you're in hiding... from... Well you know who.. and I think I'm being followed"
She gestured outside.
"Plus... Oh my god...", sudden realisation hits Y/N. "What am I even doing - you've hurt people".
Loki looks away as that strange feeling takes over him again, guilt. Not guilt for his actions against the faceless strangers, but guilt that his actions hurt Y/N.
"You hurt alot of people with what you did, how can I ever trust you?".
Loki took a deep breath, he wants to explain, but he can't, it wouldn't be safe for her.
"Y/N there are things - things I can't say because it's dangerous - too dangerous for you to know".
A huff escapes Y/N's lips before she speaks again.
"Right - of course - and you think I'm just going to forget what's happened? All those people?"
Y/N chews on the inside of her bottom lip as she thinks her next words over carefully. She wants to know why, she needs to know why Loki did what he did. That wasn't the Loki she remembered.
"Tell me why? - tell me why you did what you did? Soul bound or not, I won't stay here a minute longer if you don't".
"It's too dangerous"
Y/N immediately got up from the chair. She wasn't joking with him. Loki panicked,
"No no no... Just wait"
Y/N sat back down and Loki instinctively reached across the table with his hand, but Y/N leaned back. Loki's arm rested outstretched across the table towards her, he rested him palm in defeat on the table.
"You either tell me right now - or"
Y/N's attention is drawn outside by something moving on the other side of the window.
"I get up and keep walking outside to that black van that has pulled up".
Loki swallowed but didn't break eye contact with her, he needed her to know he was telling the truth.
"It wasn't my choice - none of it was"
Loki was getting nervous talking about this, his fingers tapped the table. He had been in his head, he had seen his thoughts, feelings, emotions, he might even still have some lingering control over him for all Loki knew. What he did know though is that he needed to keep Y/N safe, from that monster, from everything. Loki pulled his arm away and sat back up straight in the chair, adjusting his suit jacket.
"Look Y/N, I... I can't tell you here okay?", he turned slightly in the chair to look over his shoulder at the van outside.
An agent in a black suit had gotten out of the van and started walking towards the coffee shop.
Loki turned back to Y/N and nodded towards the door as he spoke, "we don't have a lot of time", as more vehicles arrived. A female agent was now also making her way towards the shop. Loki glanced out of the window again, "in fact we need to leave NOW!".
Loki stood quickly causing the chair to squeak across the tiled floor, grabbing Y/N's hand and leading her towards the back door of the coffee shop.
He leaned into her as he whispered, "act natural".
"Where are we going?"
"Somewhere they can't find you"
"Can't find me?"
Y/N sounded confused. They walked briskly, but tried not to draw too much attention.
Loki scoffed, "do you really think they'd send mortals for me?".
He may have sounded arrogant in his statement, but he was right.
Loki pulled Y/N through the back door into an alleyway, quickly checking no one was around to see and they were out of sight before they vanished in a green light.
