Mirabel sighed, sewing Antonio's jaguar stuffed toy since his actual jaguar used it as a chew toy without him knowing. It's been a few days after her talk with Luisa and it seemed like she was under less pressure than before and relaxes a lot, which was nice.
Her cousins and sisters were nicer than they were before Antonio's ceremony, some -like Isabela-, more easily noticed than the others. "Mirabel!" Yelled someone from outside, making her sigh and open the door to see Camilo grinning.
"Hey, Camilo." Said Mirabel, gesturing him inside. "So, Dolores told me that you became Luisa's therapist." He said, walking slowly towards Mirabel who was back at the sewing machine. "I wouldn't really say we had a therapy session. It was more like she needed to let some of her emotions out."
"Exactly, a therapy session." Camilo said, plopping down on the bed. "Silence, mi primo. I'm trying to fix this stuffed toy here." She said, gesturing to the torn-up jaguar.
"Well, I was here to invite you to a small picnic. I found a really cool place near a river and I wanted to have a picnic with you and the others. Minus adults." He said, standing up and looking through her wardrobe.
"What are you doing there?" Mirabel asked, seeing Camilo rummage through her wardrobe out of the corner of her eye. "I'm trying to see if I can steal a dress or two." He mumbled, but Mirabel still heard.
"If you want, I can make you a dress." She said, looking at his slim figure messing through her clothes. She never knew he liked dresses but hey, if he wants to wear dresses, why stop him? Camilo froze and slowly closed the closet door. "You're kidding, right?"
Mirabel smirked. "If you leave my clothes alone, I'll make you any dress you want." Camilo jumped a little bit in excitement. "Great. When you finish with that, I wanna see you outside of the nursery and downstairs with Dolores, got it?"
"Yeah yeah, now get out so I can actually finish this." She said, shooing him out of the room with a wave, putting all her focus on finishing the stuffed toy.
After a few minutes, Mirabel left her room, Antonio's jaguar clutched in her hand. Upon seeing her cousin, Dolores stood up and waved her over, moving the basket full of food to the side. "Hey, Mirabel." Greeted Dolores, waving her over.
"Hey Dolores. You don't have chores?" Asked Mirabel, sitting down beside her. "Nope." She said, fidgeting with her fingers. "Anyways, who else is coming?" Asked Mirabel, playing with the stuffed jaguar.
"Tonito and Cami from what I know." She said, watching Mirabel playing with Antonio's jaguar. "Well where are they?"
On cue, a jaguar came bounding down the stairs, Antonio riding it. "Hi Dolores! Hi Mirabel!" He greeted, getting off his jaguar and hugging them. "Hola Antonio. Where's Camilo?" Asked Mirabel, looking around.
"Right here!" Yelled Camilo, sliding down the banister and landing dramatically. "How dramatic." Said Mirabel with a grin. "Silence mi prima. Today, we have a picnic." Said Camilo, picking up the basket and walking towards the doors. "C'mon, we don't have all day." Said Camilo, waving them over.
After a few minutes of walking with idle chatter, Camilo stopped. "Woah, what's up with you primo?" Asked Mirabel, nearly bumping into him. "Sorry, we're here." When he moved to show the area to his siblings and cousin, they looked amazed.
It was a wide but slow river, beautiful greenery surrounding it, a small waterfall flowing of clear water, and the reflections of purple and yellow in the water. "It's beautiful." Said Dolores, amazed by the beautiful sight.
"Yeah. C'mon, the clearing's over here." Said Camilo, running off somewhere to their left. His cousins followed enthusiastically to see an open clearing, right beside the graceful waterfall.
"Whaddya think?" Said Camilo, rocking on his heels in front of them. "It's great." Said Mirabel, looking around at the beautiful surroundings. "I wanna eat." Said Antonio, jumping off his jaguar, Mirabel's jaguar in his hands, and running over to the small clearing.
Dolores walked over to him, pulled a blanket out of the basket, and set it down. "Are you guys just gonna stand over there or are we gonna eat?" Asked Dolores, gesturing to Antonio who was already grabbing pan de yucas and arepas out of the basket. "We're gonna eat, obviously. C'mon Mira." Said Camilo, grabbing Mirabel's hand and leading her over to the picnic area.
For the entire time they were there, they all ate, talked about what happened to them recently, and everyone except Dolores, played in the river. Dolores tilted her head upwards in the direction of the encanto. "Isabela says it's time to go home." She said, picking up all the leftover food, which wasn't much, and put it in the basket.
Then Antonio pouted. "But I still wanna play." He mumbled. Mirabel noticed and picked him up, carrying him to the riverbank. "Don't worry hombrecito. We can always come here sometime later." Camilo grinned before shifting into Mirabel, tutting and shaking his head in a dramatic manner. "I'm right, y'know Tonito. I, Mirabel Madrigal, am always right and will never be wrong."
"I don't sound like that, y'know?" Said Mirabel, a grin forming on her face. "I don't sound like that, y'know?" Said Camilo in a mocking tone. Mirabel shoved him lightly, making him transform back. After finally regrouping, they all headed back to Casita.
When they got near Casita, Camilo pulled Mirabel to the side, letting Dolores take Antonio home. "Cami? What's up?" She asked, confused as to why he pulled her aside.
He fidgeted with the hem of his ruana before speaking. "I uh, wanted to tell you something personal." He said, going red a bit. "Y'know Dolores will hear, right?"
"Obviously I know. She has super hearing. It's pretty obvious she's gonna hear it. Besides, she already knows." Mirabel gasped dramatically. "Before your favorite cousin? I am ashamed with you mi primo." She said, putting a hand on her chest. Camilo laughed, making Mirabel grinned. "I got you." She said, assuming a more comfortable stance.
"You did. Anyways, I wanted to tell you that..." When he trailed off, Mirabel got more and more confused by the second before he groaned loudly. "I'm just gonna rip off the bandage. Sometimes I feel like a boy but sometimes I feel like a girl and sometimes I don't even know what I am." He said quickly, Mirabel understanding every word.
"Aw, Cami, y'know the family's probably, most likely, going to accept you for who you are." She said, putting a hand on his shoulder. "But what if-"
She cut him off. "If they don't, which is very unlikely, then I'll be here. I promise." At those words, Camilo smiled before hugging her tightly, Mirabel hugging him just as tightly. "Thanks, mi prima."
