they'll say you could do anything, they'll say that i was clever

"You did very well at Arkham," Joker purred, walking over to you and once again standing uncomfortably close. You couldn't stop your gaze from roaming, finally seeing those tattoos in person. "In fact, next time Batsy ships me there, I might just have you help break me out."
He had undoubtedly put you through one of the most horrifying moments of your life. He had even encouraged it, was now saying that your response was good. Warranted, even. You knew, logically, that he was wrong.
Emotionally, however... that was a different story.
His smile was sharp and focused and distinctly proud, and it made your knees weak, having all of his attention on you. It was almost as if he was dissecting you, searching for something interesting he wanted to pick apart even further, to see the inner workings of. You found yourself wanting to let him.
And then he moved, and the moment was over.
"I'm going to need you to do something for me, Y/N," Joker said. He kept his voice low, confidential, even. He didn't look away from you, and he didn't blink often enough, you were noticing. "See, I've got this... high roller at a club I own. And he's a little down on his luck. Keeps getting bad hands, you know how it is."
And he didn't even give you a chance to nod or add on, just kept going. "Unfortunately, if he keeps getting his bad hands, we're going to run out of cash. And I can't have that. So I need you to-" he clapped his hands suddenly, the crack of it echoing off the walls. "Take him out."
"Yes sir," you said, barely managing not to stutter.
"The name's Dietrich Maxim," Joker said, and despite his light tone, you could tell he was taking this seriously. It was all fun and games until someone tried to fuck with him. "The club's the Grin And Bare It. You'll find it." He turned back to the bed.
And then he stopped, turning back to face you. Joker's face was- it was stoic. Almost blank. More terrifying than anything you'd seen from him thus far.
"You're not as stupid as the rest of them, are you, Y/N?" He asked quietly. "Just like I told Jonny Jonny. No," he stepped closer to you, "I don't think you're stupid at all."
The moment stretched taut between you. You could barely breathe. And then, once again, like a rubber band snapping, it was over, and Joker was waving you off.
"Go, I want him dead by tonight."
"Yes sir."
You were out of the penthouse quickly, slipping into the elevator again. You pulled out your phone and did a quick search- the Grin and Bare It wasn't too far away. A 10 minute drive at most.
You noticed, as you played idly on your phone, that you had two new contacts. Frost was the first one, labeled simply Frost. Sharkey was second, labeled in the same way. You typed out a quick message to Frost.
Got a car I can use? I got an errand to run.
After a second, you added, this is y/n, by the way.
His response came quickly. Level 2 of the garage, it's a black Range Rover.
Thanks.
When you got out, you immediately saw the lack of other cars. Of course. Who would want to stay in a hotel that also housed the Joker. You saw the Range Rover close by, and found it unlocked, with the keys in one of the cup holders.
It only took you five minutes to drive to the club (you were going a bit over the speed limit). When you got there, though it was only late afternoon, the place was already getting crowded. The smell of alcohol, sweat, and cigarettes hung in the air, and you wrinkled your nose as you made your way through the place.
"Hell yeah, Dietrich, roll another!" Someone shouted, and you immediately adjusted your course, heading towards them.
Dietrich turned out to be a middle-aged man with white-blonde hair, wearing an incredibly ugly Hawaiian shirt with sweat stains on it. He held a cigar in one hand and a pair of dice in the other. And he was smirking like an idiot.
Oh, yeah. You were going to enjoy taking this fucker down.
