As soon as you were out of max security, Joker took the reins. Mikey and Two-Face disappeared into the fray, and despite your friendship with Mikey, you knew they'd be taking their men with them. You didn't really blame them- why sacrifice their men in a fight for the Joker? You'd have made the same decision.

You, Joker, and the blonde doctor met up with Frost at the foot of the stairs on the first floor.

"Take her to the room we discussed earlier, would you, Frost?" He said. Frost dipped his head, glanced at you, then took the doctor's arm and steered her away.

"Ask me what my plan is," Joker said as soon as you were alone.

You still didn't look at him, pretending like you were checking your gun. "I would, but I don't work for you anymore."

"You do now," he said confidently. You were stunned. Did he just expect you to come back, after all that had happened?

"I don't," you said again, "You said so yourself. I can't be trusted."

He frowned. "I did?"

"Yeah. And very loudly, too."

"Who do you work for now?" He asked.

"A little old lady who runs the convenience store on my street corner."

"I'll pay you double what you're making there."

"50 bucks an hour, then," you said sarcastically. "I'm moving up in the world."

Joker let out a high laugh. "You're always moving up, Y/N. Work for me, and not just because I'll be paying you a frankly absurd amount of money. Because you want to, and I know you do. Unless that's changed."

You stared at each other for a long moment. He wasn't asking whether you wanted to work for him- the real question had gone unsaid, but not unspoken.

You answered him honestly, as you'd always done. "Yes. I do." Joker smiled, wide and sharp.

"Welcome back to the operation," he said. And then he leaned forward, put his pale hands on either side of your face, and pulled you forward to kiss you firmly on the lips.

Your mind went blank. Your eyes fluttered shut after a second, and you helplessly leaned into his touch, barely holding back a tiny whimper. Finally, finally, you were getting what you wanted.

After another moment, Joker pulled away. "Now ask me what the plan is," he said triumphantly. He was grinning like a maniac.

"What's the plan?" You asked, temporarily breathless.

A smirk crossed his face. "I'm going to give the doctor- Dr. Harleen Quinzel-" he overexaggerated her name, "the one bad day she needs to become just like one of us. And I want you to watch."

"Yes sir," you said. As if you would say anything else.

The whole "bad day" thing was not what you'd been expecting. Joker had you and Frost strap Quinzel to a table, grabbing an office lamp and shining it right in her face.

"I did everything you said. I helped you!" She pleaded with him, but he just grinned that shark's smile and leaned over her.

"You helped me by erasing my mind? What few, faded memories I had?" He slammed his fists down on the table right beside her head a couple times for emphasis. "No, you left me in a black hole of rage and confusion. Is that the medicine you practice, Dr. Quinzel?"

"What're you gonna do? You gonna kill me, Mister J?" She asked, her faint Gotham accent slipping into her voice.

"Oh, I'm not gonna kill you," he said, his tone mockingly reassuring. "I'm just gonna hurt you. Really, really bad."

You glanced over at Frost, who met your gaze, but quickly glanced away. Ah. So this was planned.

"You think so?" Quinzel asked Joker. "Well, I can take it."

Frost wordlessly handed Joker a brown leather belt. Joker placed it between Quinzel's teeth, saying-

"I wouldn't want you to break those perfect, porcelain-capped teeth when the juice hits your brain."

He picked up two- what in hell even were those? Two metal things and pressed them to Quinzel's temples. She screamed bloody murder and jerked against the restraints.

Over and over. Joker started cackling halfway through and just didn't stop. She was crying, screaming, her nails ripping into the padded table. It was as if you were at the very beginning all over again- sometimes you blinked and saw the doctor you'd killed slumped on the table instead.

You didn't know how long it went on, but eventually Quinzel went slack in her bindings. Joker moved away, dropping the metal things on the floor. He was still giggling quietly to himself.

Frost handed him some street clothes, and he unabashedly began to strip his hospital scrubs off right in front of you. Frost looked away, but Joker held eye contact with you the whole time. You were utterly frozen. Every time you thought you'd seen the depths the Joker could sink to, he dragged you further down.

Well, it wasn't like you'd have it any other way. With a flick of Joker's hand, you unbuckled Quinzel and watched as Frost lifted her in his arms.

So you were taking her with you. Oh, this was so not going to go well for her.
