I was in a rather low mood when I went into work for the day today, having spent my entire day with my team after walking Felix home, spending the time very thoroughly going through our team's lists of information and clients.
Should shit hit the fan, my team had enough information on all the big players in this state and the surrounding ones to keep our people out of harms way.
Really I wasn't too worried, truth be told. . .I just wanted to busy myself and keep my mind off of Felix.
Hence why I was currently sitting on the floor, reorganizing the gas station's product shelf by shelf.
I have found no less than thirty seven expired items so far. . .Four that were expired even before I was born!
Horrific.
It took most of my shift but eventually I made it to the other side of the store, working on the final row of shelves hidden from the cameras.
My coworkers and the manager on shift had come to check on me more than once, hanging out near me to chat and or offer snacks/water but by now I was alone, the others currently watching the football game going on on the tiny, crappy little TV Josh managed to scavenge from a trashcan a year ago.
The bell above the door rung it's broken electronic noise as someone entered the store, footfalls quiet and mostly covered by my coworkers cheering on their team -the blue something or other-.
I couldn't care less, I was currently kneeling on the floor, my entire upper half shoved under the second lowest shelf as I tried to wiggle a very stuck, very rusted can out from behind two shelves.
So THIS is why we can't fit as many boxes in this section. . .Why the hell didn't someone look before now?
I was so absorbed in my task - and the fact that I was currently shoved in a shelf - I failed to hear the footsteps approaching behind me.
''Oh for the love of- How did you even get wedged in here?'' I quietly demanded of the rather sad looking rusted can.
Suddenly, a warm hand rested on my lower back, making me jump slightly in surprise as I quickly scrambled to pull my upper body out from between the shelves, not noticing the faint tingles in my haste.
''What the f-'' I started to hiss out as I pulled myself free, my head throbbing slightly from quickly sitting up before falling quiet as my eyes locked with none other than Chase.
God. Damn it.
Tensing up, I scrambled back ever so slightly, feeling disgusted and unsafe at the close presence of the cruel man.
But of course thanks to my non-existent luck, I was in the aisle that only had one exit and no cameras and he was of course once again between me and the exit.
I was getting deja vu. . .I didn't like it the first time. . .And who'd have guessed, still don't like it.
''Hey, hey it's okay, I'm just here to talk, please'' Chase murmured out in a voice that would be soothing coming from anyone else. . .But so very threatening from him.
Ah shit. . .Great. . .
''Cool. Good talk. Bye.'' I curtly snipped out, my voice trembling ever so slightly despite my very best attempt to keep it steady.
Keeping my gaze trained on the ground, I hurriedly got to my feet and tried to rush past the other man.
I really needed to stop doing that as once again, an arm looped around my waist and suddenly I was thrown.
