The New Kid (Camilo)(Pt. 2)

Luciana POV

As the next month passed, I fell even more in love with Encanto, the city, the food, the scenery, and the people. Or maybe one person in particular.

I had spent a lot of time with Camilo in the past month. He was super fun to hang out with and we had great times today. And as our friendship grew, so did my feelings for him. I had never been in love before, never even in like, and yet he made me feel safe and happier than I had been in America.

It's possible he likes me back, I wouldn't know though. No one's ever liked me before so I don't know how I would know if he likes me. Mirabel says he does though. Apparently he talks about me at dinner sometimes and his family teases him in response.

Today Camilo and I were gonna go around town. He had to help his abuela so I offered to help as well. Once we're done with that we're just gonna walk around.

I was eating breakfast in the kitchen with Ma and Izzie. Izzie learned to love the Madrigals as I did. We met the entire family when we were at their house once. Izzie and Isabela bonded right away due to their similar names and Izzies love for flowers. She also gets along with Antonio and they bond over animals.

I hear the doorbell ring, I go to open it and see...two Antonios. Oi.

"Hi Antonio, Hi Camilo," I tell them. Camilo turns back into himself and we laugh. "Izzie is inside Tonio."

"Thanks!" He tells me before running to the kitchen. I grab my bag before calling out goodbye to my mom. We start walking down and I help Camilo with his "chores" as he goes around trying to make people happy. I smile as I see how hard he tries to help the people of the town. It's one of the things I like about him, that he tries to make people happy and put a smile on their faces. And most of the time, I can see it makes him happy. There are other times though, where he seems to be upset because of it. I think he feels of it more as an obigation. He feels like he needs to make these people happy.

"Bye Senor!" Camilo waves to an elderly man before coming back over to me. He grabs my hand and starts running. A blush appears on my face but I try to hide it.

"Where are you taking me Milo?" I ask as we run to the outside of the town.

"You'll see!" He responds. A few minutes later we arrive at a small cliff in the forest, overseeing the entire town.

"Wow how did you find this?" I asked him.

"A lot happens when you're bored," he responds with a grin. We sit down and overlook the city. I rest my head on his shoulder and I feel him tense up before relaxing a bit and putting his arm on my shoulder.

We're sitting in silence. Not an awkward silence, but a calm, peaceful silence.

I look up at him and he looks nervous.

"Camilo are you ok?" I ask.

He takes a deep breath before saying, "I actually have something to tell you."

I sit up and look at him. "Go on."

He looks down at his hands before looking up at me.

"Let me figure out how to say this," he says. After a bit he says, "Okay I think I got it. I know we've only been friends for about a month, but we've gotten so close in that time. I trust you with all my secrets I trust you with everything. What I'm trying to say is...I like you. I like your hair, your eyes, your voice. But most importantly I like- no I love- how you care about people and make everyone feel wanted and loved. You're so kind and helpful and I've completely fallen for you."
