"Get up!" A voice sung out, snatching my sheets away from me. A cold shiver ran along my body, making me curl in on myself.

I fluttered one eye open, seeing Jamie pull on the curtains, revealing a bright blue sky. I groaned, shoving my head under my pillow.

She roughly pulled on my leg, dragging me out of bed. With a quiet THUD, my body hit the wooden floor.

"Jamie!" I barked at her, sitting up. I rubbed my head, feeling the many tangles in my hair.

"You kept snoozing your alarm so I had to do something. I'd hate for you to be late on your first day." Her words made me scramble to my feet. I leaned over my desk to look at my calendar. In black ink, two words were scribbled on today's date:

First Day
(Don't do anything stupid)

Jamie held up my alarm clock, showing I only had twenty minutes until my bus arrived. I ran to the bathroom, brushing my teeth and rinsing my face. I didn't have time to do a fancy hairdo, so I settled on leaving my hair loose. I brushed out my stubborn ends.

The guest bathroom was still full of my old things, including polaroid pictures I took on my cheap camera. I ran a finger along one, immediately recognizing the friendly face on it.

The picture was a selfie of me and my ex-best friend, Peter Parker. Let's just say he wasn't happy after I left New York without warning. It wasn't my fault but he refused to listen to my side of the story. I attempted to call him a few times, but he never answered back.

"I forgot to take those pictures down after you left." Jamie said from the doorway, watching me get lost in my thoughts.

"It's alright." I replied shortly. She rubbed a hand on my arm.

"You still miss him, don't you?"

"I think about him. Especially since I'm living in the same city as him again. But, he's probably still upset after all these years." I really did consider showing up at the Parker residence. I didn't want to see the look on his face, though.

"I doubt that." Jamie disappeared into the hallway, whistling.

I walked out of the flat, shoving a burrito in my mouth. I only had five minutes before the bus got here. I rushed into the elevator as it was closing, barely making it. I kneeled down to tie my shoes.

DING!

I ushered out of the elevator, pushing past people. As I exited the building, a big, yellow vehicle came rolling by. It stopped several feet away from me.

I began to walk toward it, relieved I made it. That was until a kid came riding past me in his bike. I swerved away to avoid collision and tripped on my own heel in the process. I fell on my back, letting out a groan.

The last person was walking onto the bus, giving me very little time. I struggled to get back up. I broke into a run, stretching my arms out.

"Wait! I'm coming!" I breathed out, panicking as the doors began to close. My body crashed into them once they completely shut. The bus driver gave me an annoyed look before opening the doors again.

"Thank you." I weakly smiled at him before taking a seat a few rows back. That was close.
