The roads were lined with cars, rushing to escape the city. News channels popped up on every billboard, rambling about the Lizard. My eyes caught a clip of it dashing down the street. There is no way I'd make it there before him. I pulled out my phone and dialed Peter's number. It took a couple of rings for him to pick up.

"Are you there?" He asked, his voice revealing a panicked tone.

"Erm- you see, I'm going to need a faster way to get there. This traffic isn't doing me justice." I answered, slowly exiting my car and staring out at the honking cars in front of me.

"Are you near the school?"

"About five minutes away. Why?" I said, climbing onto my car to get a better view of the Oscorp building. I didn't even notice when Peter hung up on me.

Other drivers gave up and abandoned their cars. I hopped off the car and broke into a run, hoping I'd make some kind of progress. As I swerved around a car, an all-too-familiar string of web latched around my waist, pulling me upwards. My mouth grew into a grin when I was met with Peter's arms wrapped around me.

"Yeah, change of plans." He stuttered out, shooting webs at the building to give him some momentum. I let out a shriek when he launched us into the air with no support but gravity. The sudden urge to hurl grew even bigger when he nearly let me go.

"Peter! I don't like this!" I yelled into his ear, earning an angered look from him.

"Listen, I realized that sending you to Oscorp was a bad idea. Gwen's on her way over right now and you-"

"What?! Why would you send her alone?" My voice didn't sound as loud due to the high speeds we were traveling at. My hair started waving in our faces, causing Peter to nearly crash into a tree.

"Gwen knows exactly what she's doing, she is fine!"

We safely landed on the roof of a building. As soon as he untangled himself from me, I stumbled onto the ground and covered my mouth to avoid vomiting everywhere. My stomach churned in ways that shouldn't be possible. I felt a pair of hands lift my hair up.

"It's okay, let it out. I threw it all up my first time too." He supportively patted my back, thinking my lunch would spill out any second now. I swatted his hands away, recomposing myself.

"You're insane. All of this is crazy. Do you know what this is? A dream. Yes, this is a dream that I am stuck in and can't get out of. Am I going crazy? Are you real?" I go over to touch his hair but he grabs my shoulders, holding me in place.

"I know these few weeks have been odd. But I need you to calm down and stay away from anything that can hurt you. I don't know what I'd do if something were to ever happen to you."

But, I have to help, is what I wanted to say. One of my best friends was at Oscorp right now, at risk of being torn apart by some mad scientist. I can't stand around and not do anything.

"You know you can't stop me, Parker." I tease, crossing my arms over my chest.

"Really?" He tests, shooting bullets of webs at my wrist, pushing me up against a wall. The webs wrapped around my ankles as well, sticking to the concrete against my back. I couldn't move my arms or legs, making me frustrated.

"Get me out! This is not fair!" I scrambled under the webs, attempting to rip them off. They felt as solid as brick on my skin.

"I'm doing this for your own good, Ro." He took a few steps forward, lifting my chin. I didn't turn away when he connected his lips with mine. It felt like it was full of pity, I hated it. Without giving me a chance to say anything else, he leaped off the building, leaving me here.

"That bitch." I mumbled under my breath, whirling my wrists as much as I could.

I quickly checked my surroundings for anything that could be useful. After finding nothing helpful, I angrily spit at the floor in between my feet. Some of the spit landed on the splotch of web trapping my ankle. The contact made a strange hissing sound, causing a fraction of the web to dissolve. I curiously stared down at my ankle, an idea beginning to form.

I built up more saliva in my mouth before spitting on my wrist. The feeling of spit on my skin was very unpleasant. But, sure enough, the web was softening up, giving my hand more wiggle room.

Eventually, it was thin enough for my fingers to rip through them, freeing one hand. I reached over to pull the rest of the web off until I found myself back on the ground.

I let out a long sigh, "What an idiot."

I barged out of the doors of the building I had been on a few minutes ago, searching for the direction Oscorp was in. The loud sirens of police cars and ambulances made it difficult to concentrate.

Sure enough, the building stood in front of it all, thousands of feet away. The streets were nearly emptied with abandoned cars littered about like trash. I searched for any police officers that might be of some help. At that moment, a S.W.A.T. team came rushing past heading away from Oscorp.

I walked toward them, stopping at a corner building. The smell of sewer filled my nostrils, nearly making me gag. Police cars pulled up in front of the building, people hopping out with weapons. One of them raised their helmet to stare at me, pointing a rifle in my direction.

"Miss, you need to go! Now!" He yelled crouched down. The rest of the team followed his pose, getting ready to shoot. I broke into a run, only to be stopped by something in front of me. I slowly peered up to meet the eyes of the Lizard, staring down at me. I slowly backed away, secretly searching for something to attack him with.

"Hello, Rosalie." He hissed, wrapping his fingers around my neck aggressively. I smacked his hand and attempted to pull it away but it didn't work. The pressure made it hard to breathe and my vision didn't take long to get blurry.

He decided I'd be no use to him and let me go. I fell loosely to the floor, gripping my throat for air.

"Get low!" The man ordered at me, throwing a shield before shooting at the Lizard. He reacted immediately, pouncing on the guy and piercing his claws into his chest. I gasped, hiding behind the shield. I crawled around the counter, hiding behind it.

Then, everything went dead silent. A strange green fume filled the air, followed by a disgusting stench. I covered my face with my jacket, protecting myself from whatever the hell of floating around. A harmony of hisses filled my ears, making my body tense up.

I peeked behind the counter, seeing several Lizards poking around and communicating with one another. Connors must've used his serum on them.

"No way it worked..." I whispered under my jacket.

"I'm just as surprised as you are." I voice spoke from above. I shot up, seeing the Lizard on all fours, sticking to the ceiling. He wrapped his tail around me, trapping me in his grasp. He made a malicious smile before injecting something into my arm.

"I hate shots.." I mumbled through quiet breaths. Suddenly, his face turned into a big green blur. I tried to wriggle out of his hold until my arms and legs went numb. Then, I felt nothing.
