Park Jongseong can vaguely remember how he had first met Jungwon. Albeit hazy, the only clear thing he can conclude from his memory is that Jungwon, ten years old that time, was cute but moody, and less sappier (up until now, Jake blames Jay for making Jungwon watch all those romance movies- he thinks Jungwon is corrupted with lovesick fever and his standards for love seem to be higher than his grades).
What Jay agrees on, however, is the fact that he thinks Jungwon looks cuter now as he is.
Anyway, flashback to seven years ago, the twelve-year-old Jay along with his neighbor, Jake, trudge their way to the park nearby as Jay's mom and Jake's dad chat away behind them. He only got to the neighborhood as he moved from Seattle to South Korea precisely five months ago. Now, Jake and his family had moved in as their neighbors three weeks ago, all the way from Brisbane, Australia.
Jay's more than happy to see a kid around his age just living across from his house! He thinks he's best friends with Jake now. As for Jake's brother, what was his name again? Johnny? He was quiet, he barely even looked at Jay's way as he's always either inside of the house or outside riding his bike.
The park isn't far. As they walk, he doesn't mind Johnny(?) following Jake behind (read: he's pretending the fair-skinned boy with curly hair and round, rosy cheeks doesn't exist at all) as they- similar to their parents- chat like there's no tomorrow.
In exaggeration, there is no tomorrow for them, having classes as they spend the last of their summer right now. Monday's coming, which means school is returning, and as much as Jay despises that day of the week, he pushes the thought on the back of his head and completely forgets about it as he distracts himself with the walk to the park.
Saving themselves from communicating in broken Korean (they've only moved, anyway), their conversation always revolves around English (with Jay having to ask Jake twice sometimes what he meant because he can't pick up with Jake's accent). They talk about the recent Avenger movies, Guardians of the Galaxy and the second movie of Captain America, something the younger kid trailing behind Jake (like a lost puppy) has completely no interest in.
"Can you two walk any faster?" The kid, still unfamiliar to Jay, said. His voice is cute, however, it is laced with a hint of annoyance. "You're just like dad and Mrs. Park. Walking so slow. Ishh..."
Jake turns to him and before he can speak, Jay has beaten him to it, scowling at the ten-year-old. "I'm sorry, who are you?" He says, the mockery in the tone of his voice growing to crescendo.
"Heyyy!" Jake clicks his tongue, obviously unamused. Not when his little brother is being dealt with Jay's sarcasm. They're the older guys, the bigger ones. If either of them wanted to, they could tower over the tiny kid behind Jake. Jay, an addition to his horror, had Jake elbow his ribcage- not that it was any serious damage.
