A little boy sits on his swing, his feet up as he stares at his high knee socks. Behind him was an older boy who wore the same uniform as him, their middle school logo tainted on their blazers. Jay loses a random game they played not too long ago so now he gets to push Jungwon's swing. "Hyung! You're pushing me too hard!!" Jungwon whines and foolishly falls off his swing, crashing to the ground with his body colliding to the soil as he lands, face flat. Jungwon swears he's about to cry, or pull at Jay's hair because of his lousy pushes that made Jungwon fall off his swing. Or both.
Footsteps approached him accompanied by Jay's snicker, and Jungwon's sure he's about to shove his fist against the older's sharp jawline, but when he lifts his head to reveal the cut on his cheek and some scratches on his chin (he also tastes the metallic tang of blood that perhaps busted from his lip), Jay plops down beside him, laying down on his back. "Ow," Jungwon cries and lays down on his back, too, so both of them lay beside each other with the sun hitting their faces. They find clouds in the sky, akin to white buckets of paint whisking in the waves of a blue sea.
The corner of Jay's lip had drawn into a smirk, but his eyes flashed no malice. "Sorry," Jay says, and to Jungwon's surprise, he only nods at Jay and mutters out that it's okay. Jay then turns his head to look at him, albeit Jungwon's full attention was directed at the beautiful sky above them.
Jay lifts his upper body and turns to face Jungwon. "You got hurt. Let me see," he says, his fingertips gently holding Jungwon's face. Jungwon looks at him. The haze of the sunlight gets shielded from Jungwon's eyes as Jay's head meets his vision. Perhaps this was how Jungwon felt his time slow down like in those typical romance movies.
This was how he realized just how odd he felt around Jongseong.
Faces close, uniforms smirched by laying carefree-like on the ground, Jay's eyes staring at the growing wounds on Jungwon's face.
Sixteen year old Jay just knows how to ruin the moment. He lets out a subtle complaint. "Jake's gonna kill me."

They're no longer kids, that was for sure. They were no longer the same immature children who were too oblivious of their puppy love.
Three seconds ago, Jay had asked Jungwon a particular question that sent Jungwon's heart into a racing frenzy. Three seconds ago, Jay's eyes were fixated on his lips. Three seconds ago, the older had asked for consent to initiate something so intimate, something that friends don't say to each other.
Funny how only three seconds ago, Jay could have shook his head in panic and regret saying it and maybe even run away. Like what Jungwon expected him to do. He thought Jay would sheepishly go, hey, sorry, I don't know what I was saying, I don't like you like that at all! I'll leave. But no.
Park fucking Jongseong knows what he said and he was sure of what he wanted.
The thing about him is that, whatever plausible thing he wants, he always gets it. He's stubborn. He stands by his word. No, he never takes anything back because he only says shit that he means with his whole heart.
