"Can you please stop disturbing me?"
The lights were off. Jungwon glances at Jay who was on Jungwon's bed, showing him another random Tiktok the latter found funny. They've been inside his room for hours, the sun has already gone down and they've eaten dinner together with Jake just half an hour ago. Jay is treating Jungwon's room as if it was his own, casually sprawling on the younger's sheets without a care as he scrolls on his phone. Jungwon heaves a sigh— although he tries to look exasperated, there's no doubt about how he will never see Jay as a nuisance.
Truth be told, Jungwon finds him rather adorable. His dark hair tousled by Jungwon's pillow, his body relaxing on Jungwon's bed, and the act of his lips curving into that of a wide grin, all for Jungwon.
Jay feigns a pout at his grumble and stands up from the bed as he approaches Jungwon to see what he was up to. "Whatcha doing?"
"Playing a game with Sunoo-hyung and Ni-ki," the boy sitting on his desk with his headphones on says, feline eyes gazing at the laptop screen.
"Oh. Cool~"
"Mhhm," Jungwon hums and glances at the time. It was nearly 8:30 in the evening. "I'm surprised you haven't gotten home yet. You spent the entire day here," he chuckles, dimples conspicuously showing because of the light coming from his gadget.
"About that.. I actually wanted to talk to you about something," Jay's voice from beside him comes off a little quiet. Jungwon's fingers stop attending to the game by what Jay said, turning his head to look at the older curiously. Hand on his chair while he stands besides Jungwon's seat, Jay's bottom lip slightly juts down in a pout as he ponders whether the timing was right or not. Nevertheless, he doesn't hesitate any longer, telling Jungwon what was on his mind. His tone indicates genuine curiosity, not at all quipping, as he says almost shyly, "let's talk about us."
Us. It still feels new, and sometimes it still shocks Jungwon. He nodded his head, dimples popping up as he purses his lips into a thin line. "I'll tell Sunoo-hyung and Ni-ki I'll leave the game," he softly explains and after a few clicks and fingertips rapidly pressing the keyboard, Jungwon turns his laptop off and turns his chair to face the bed that Jay plops to. Leaning on the soft headboard, Jay interlocks his fingers and gives Jungwon a little smile.
It was dark inside the room, if it wasn't for the puppy-shaped acrylic night light resting on Jungwon's desk with words displaying 'keep early hours,' and the yellowish gleam faintly lighting up the place. The stars weren't on display, yet when Jungwon looks at Jay's eyes, he can see them scintillating even more alluring than the vast sky itself.
"About us.. Where do we go from here?" Jay asks him. "I really wanna hear it from you. Whatever you'll say, I'll follow it." A guileless smile makes its way on Jay's face, and Jungwon smiles back because whenever his lips tug upwards, Jungwon would find it contagious.
"Well... I've been thinking of taking it slow. I mean, let's not be officially boyfriends yet, you know? I mean, I just moved back and we probably don't know much about each other except for the younger versions of us," he tells the older sincerely, "I wanna get to know you better. And after that, maybe then we can decide whether or not we want to actually be a real thing."
Jay nods. "I understand where you're pointing at, and I also agree. How about... I'll court you? I want to get to know you better, too. And I'll wait for you— until we're both ready, no matter how long it takes, Won. Just tell me your yes and I'll be more than happy to be your boyfriend. And if it does end up as a no.. It's fine. I can never force you into anything," he says.
At this second, Jungwon just wants to jump off his chair and engulf Jay in a hug. He smiles, and nods his head, "sounds good."
The older chuckles and gets up from Jungwon's bed, reaching over to pat his hair. "It's getting a little late now, so I'll go to my house. Goodnight, Jungwonie."
"Good night, Jay-hyung."

There were days where Jongseong would stay longer in Jungwon's house than he does on his own. Days where they would go to places together. Instances where their hands would brush against each other but they would end up too shy to hold hands. But there were also times where Jongseong's hand reached to intertwine their fingers together. During those moments, he would pick Jungwon up after his Taekwondo training and go on dates together.
Of course, everyone knew that Jay was courting him. Even Jay's parents invited Jungwon over to dinner one night. They profusely apologized to both of them, embarrassed and guilty that they assumed Riki and Jungwon were dating. Speaking of the kid, he and Jay are no longer giving each other the cold shoulder. Riki realized that he could trust Jay after they hung out together. He also apologized for the ruckus he created during that time they first met.
Jungwon's parents came home, as well as his sister who brought her girlfriend along. The older ladies decided to spend the rest of their vacation in their hometown, while Jungwon and Jake agreed to stay in South Korea. Once they heard about the news that Jungwon and Jay had a thing going on, Namjoon scratched his head and looked at his husband who gave Jay a smile that somewhat looked threatening.
I trust you with my son, Jay-ah, Namjoon tells him. Please do not hurt him, Seokjin says.
And he wouldn't. He won't. He'll never. Jay would rather disappear than to ever inflict pain on him.
As Jay's eyes travel to Jungwon whose head rests on his shoulder, fast asleep on the bus they were in. Hands intertwined together after a long day. They're going home after another date, and just the thought of the events from earlier that day was enough to send Jongseong a butterfly frenzy in his stomach. Feeling Jungwon's warmth and hearing his soft snores, a smile makes its way on Jay's face.
He's falling deeper and deeper with each passing day. The desire to hold Jungwon and inhale the smell of his shampoo, and just being with him grows into something almost unbearable that it hurts him. Jungwon looks like an angel. Jay's angel; the prettiest existence he knows of in the midst of the harsh world. He can not deny— air knocks off his lungs whenever he sees Jungwon look at him, his lips yearn to delicately caress his skin. The affection, the adoration, and the care he holds for Jungwon is immeasurable beyond extent.
Jungwon stirs up, half-lidded eyes wavering open, waking up from his short slumber. "Jay-hyung?" He mutters, and Jay gives his hand a gentle squeeze, whispering softly to ease the younger.
"Go sleep if you want to, I'll wake you up when we get home," he says and smiles when Jungwon lays his head on his shoulder once again.
Humming softly in response, Jungwon gives him a small nod. "I know. Thank you, Jay-hyung."
"Hm~?"
Deep dimples come into view. Jungwon's fingers tenderly stroke Jay's hand. "I'm safe here with you."
