Here's a little summary :
Rantaro comes as planned at the phantom thief's hidden base where Kokichi is locked up. The two men face each other, about to shoot.
A sound of a gun shooting can be heard and then Rantaro's father meets his son outside, carrying an injured Kokichi.
While an ambulance drives them to the nearest hospital, Rantaro promises to Kokichi he will not let anything happen to her anymore and to always stay by her side, asking her if she will marry him.

It is 8 :40 in the morning.
The sky is getting clearer by the minute as the sun is rising.
I am near the kitchen, currently finishing my coffee.
At this hour, Umi must be in Kokichi's bedroom, slightly taping her shoulder to wake her up while saying :
« Miss ? »
And Kokichi must be growling : « hum... »
« It is time to wake up, miss. »
« ...omin... » Kokichi must be saying with her little voice.
« I'll let you wake up at your own convenience. Would you like anything for breakfast ? »
« p... p-p... anc-cakes...»
« Very well, miss. I shall inform the chef of your wish. I'll be back soon to help you get ready for the day. »
Umi is our new maid, more precisely, she's a maid affiliated to mostly Kokichi. She's the one waking her up in the morning, helping her get washed and ready in the morning, get dressed, etc. otherwise, she is in charge of cleaning the mansion and to help me out if I ever need her help. She isn't as good as Kirumi was but Kirumi was on a whole other level... I'm sure Kokichi would have loved having Kirumi to take care of her but... unfortunately, no matter how much she wants it, this isn't possible anymore...
And yes, I say she helps Kokichi out getting ready in the morning because Kokichi has much more difficulties than before to do this...for... a specific reason...
As on cue, while I was thinking of her drinking the last drop of my coffee, the door of the dining room opens, letting a big, muscled man holding the door open so our maid Umi can walk inside, pushing Kokichi's wheelchair...
I put my mug back on the table and stand up to walk up to her.
« Morning sweetheart. » I get down to her and kiss her forehead. « You had a nice sleep ? »
Kokichi silently nods, looking right at me with her tired eyes as if she was someone who just woke up. Which means she managed to sleep. Good. She often has nightmares because of what happened.
« I'll go work in my office. You tell me if you need anything, okay ? »
Kokichi nods again. I tell her the same thing every single morning so I know she may have understood it by now but I will keep on telling her this over and over again... so she knows she can count on me...
« Good morning Umi. Good morning Gokuhara-kun. I leave Kokichi to you for today. Please, take care of her. »
« We will, sir. »
Gokuhara, whose complete name is Gonta Gokuhara, is a big, muscled man who may honestly scare you the first time you see him. But the moment you talk with him, you understand he's the sweetest man alive, obsessed with the idea of becoming a gentleman and working very hard to make that happen, being polite, nice and treating the ladies with respect.
