Drista felt herself collapse, the whole entire world fall into a deep silence around her, awake or not. She didn't know what to think of that dream...that tree.
There's something inside that tree...
She had felt the millions of heartbeats and could still hear every individual beat, she knew it was real, it wasn't just a figment of her imagination.
"Drista? You've been real quiet ever since you woke up, something wrong?"
Drista looked up and met Purpled's eyes, a concerned gaze staring into her emerald pupils. She looked back at her plate and just scraped her fork along the dish, pushing her food around the plate. She looked up again to be met with everyone's worried glances. She sighed as she leaned back in her chair and thought back.
"Puffy, can you take me to the castle's library after breakfast?" she asked. Puffy slowly nodded. "Yeah sure, we could do that," she replied as she finished her breakfast.
Drista took a deep breath and placed her utensils on the side and then dived her head into her food, chomping down and finishing it within minutes. When she lifted her head, she grabbed a napkin and wiped any excess off and drank milk to wash all the food down.
"Alright, let's go," Drista gestured as she grabbed Puffy's hand and dragged her out of the dining room, towards the direction of the library.
"Which way?"
"Take a right,"
"Take a what?"
"Just go that way"
They eventually found themselves in the library and Drista immediately scavenged the shelves, walking on top of them and picking a book, laying down and quickly scanning for any hint to the plot.
Unlike Tommy, Drista had found a way to learn to read and write and be able to learn like other children, a true life saver in her opinion. It was much better when you could understand the world around you, instead of having no idea on whats happening.
Puffy just sat there, curious at what Drista was trying to find. She was also impressed at how fast she could read, as she heard a book fall every few minutes.
"Drista, what are you looking for? Because clearly you're in the wrong section" Puffy eyed the 5 different piles around the library and Drista just threw another book.
"Where's the books on a command block? Or the Phoenix?" she asked, looking back at Puffy. "The one on blocks is over there, I'll be right back with a Phoenix one," she answered and left the library.
Drista hopped down from the book shelves and hopped on the moving ladder, pushing it and moving it around the shelfs with ease.
She eventually ended up in the direction Puffy pointed and immediately devoured the stories and became entranced with the books, flipping the pages, skimming the words, and the pages numbers rising high as she read more and more.
Puffy came back after a few minutes and her eyes almost popped out of her sockets when she saw the whole entire library. Books were out of their designated places and there only a few left in each section.
"Drista! You can't keep throwing books all around the place! I have the book you needed, now after you're done, I want you to help me clean the mess you made!" Puffy said as she trudged through the sea of stories and tossed Drista the book.
Drista opened to the first page, uhphased and began reeling herself in, filling her mind with new info, new phrases and knowledge.
She examined each page carefully, reading and re-reading paragraphs and pages over and over again as soaked in each drop of information to benefited and utilized to their potential.
Puffy was able to clean up most of the library when Drista finished, closing the book and stepping back a bit. She then ran and jumped off the shelf, her cloak beginning to expand and float her down as she tumbled onto the ground, the book safely under her arm.
She walked towards Puffy and gave her back the book, then help restore the library back to its normal condition. It was evening by the time they finished and they were exhausted.
Drista basically memorized that whole entire book, as well as the one on the command block. As her and Puffy laid on the ground, panting from running around the library all day, Puffy turned towards her.
"Why did you need books on those specific subjects?"
Drista looked at her and sat up, deciding to tell her about the strange adventure in her dreams.
"When I was unconscious I had a vision...but not one about the future, but one of the past.." she began, biting her lip as she continued.
She gestured for Puffy to follow her as they made their way to the garden, Drista walking towards the giant oak tree.
She hesitantly reached her hand out and briefly made contact with the oak, as she retracted her shaking hand.
"This tree..inside their lies millions upon millions of heartbeats...each one beating with the power of a thousand suns.." she took Puffy's hand and put her hand back on the tree.
She felt the breeze flow through their interlocked fingers and Drista's eyes began to emit a light glow from them as Puffy was suddenly dragged into a strange world.
There, she found herself in the same place Drista was earlier, only Drista was not there.
Puffy looked around and saw the ember, a small fire suddenly erupting from it and expanding as it blazed throughout the chamber. Suddenly Puffy could hear it. Those pounding sounds of life, they all echoed through her ears and she could see each one.
She looked at all of them and was abruptly pulled back into reality.
She fell backwards and looked up to find Drista laying her back on the tree, newly formed bags under her eyes. Puffy stood up, shaking a bit from the experience and walked towards Drista.
"Did you hear them?" she asked, her voice raspy but hopeful.
Puffy softly smiled as she squatted next to her.
"I did Drista...I heard every single one.."
Drista softly chuckled as Puffy picked her up and carried her to her room. Puffy placed her down in the bed and pulled the covers over her.
"Get some rest, you have a big day tomorrow,"
she exited the room and a tired Drista fell asleep with a smile plastered on their face.
