PAIN.

Her whole body had been thrown yards away, she had flown for seconds until gravity dragged her body downwards. She had fallen hard on the grass, first sliding harshly against it, then rolling roughly.

But that wasn't what hurt so much.

That pain was dwindling, that pain could be taken away by caring for her skin and muscles.

No, the pain that followed was worse. This pain was nothing compared to anything she'd ever felt before.

It came from inside her.

Something snapped in her being and suddenly, it was as if someone was scratching her insides, dragging down nails painfully through whatever she was made of.

Scrapping.

Ripping.

Peeling.

Rose groaned making herself into a ball. With all her strength, she stood up struggling, putting her hands on the ground and pushing herself upwards. But even then, she was hunched.

Her chest ached and she couldn't breathe.

What was happening?

She moved her legs forward, looking around at the empty field as she winced, her face scrunching in pain, trying to look for someone, anyone.

She needed to find Steve.

She recognised someone's body and walked faster. Dread building in her gut.

Unbeknownst to her, the future held a worse feeling for her to experience. One that wouldn't be able to recover from. At least not easily, not anytime soon.

In the end, she would have to be what she'd always been.

Resilient.

Shortest prologue ever, I know.

I was struggling with what to write and then I decided to write a snippet of something that was going to happen instead of something from the past or present as I've done with the other books.

So here it is.

Hope it was catchy enough!
