Rose raced out to the field of the compound. The pull was getting shorter.

She stopped in the middle of the field looking at the dark sky lit up by stars. She could feel the steps from far away but she didn't glance back keeping her gaze up. Pepper was running towards her, Nat too, but honestly, she hadn't checked who had heard her say that Tony was coming back. She'd just yelled making sure Pepper would hear and left, not seeing who had been nearby to listen.

No sooner had Carol left the compound than Rose called Pepper to tell her about the news. The fiancé had hoped on her car and Happy, who thankfully was still here, had sped in her car reaching reached the compound in just fifteen minutes. He had left to make sure everything was in place for when his friend returned home. Barely a couple hours had passed since then.

A spark appeared in the night's sky. The tiny dot got bigger and bigger and soon you could see a spaceship being carried towards them. Pepper reached Rose's side so the Thompson could hear her breaths, anxious ones.

They shared an eager, worried and expectant look before returning their gaze to the oncoming ship being carried by Carol Danvers, who happened to be the one glowing as she came down. The ground started to shake as it got closer to the compound.

Rose felt the presence of others and she turned around briefly to see Steve, Nat, Bruce and Rhodey arriving close to them. She did a double-take when she realised Steve no longer had his beard, instead, his face was completely clean-shaven. He glanced back at her surprised stare and she turned around returning her focus to the spaceship her godson was in.

It only occurred to her then that she hadn't seen him in two years.

This would be the first time.

The outer space vehicle landed near the end of the building, they could see at the distance Carol reaching the ground. The light around her disappeared.

Rose took off again, sprinting at the ship with her heart pounding inside her. Behind her, Steve had begun running too.

A boarding ramp opened and a staircase appeared. When Rose reached the front vehicle, she saw two figures coming down. The amount of relief that set off within her released her of so much pressure that she felt like she could cry. She kept running reaching the stairs.
