Rose laughed as she headed inside the house. "Is that so?"

"I swear to you," Peggy gave her a surprised smile with her full-red lips. "I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't been there myself." She shut the door of her house.

"Now I'm sorry I missed it," she said taking off her scarf and hanging it on the coat hanger as she'd done a dozen times.

"Oh, you didn't miss much. Danvers was the only interesting thing of the whole evening. This night was more eventful."

Rose raised her brows at Peggy's tone. "I knew you liked the movie, I can hear it in your voice," she referenced the recent film they had just finished in the theatre.

"Well, it wasn't terrible."

"I'm telling Jarvis."

"Please don't," Peggy sent her a look as Rose smirked. There was a moment in which the only sounds that were heard were the women's heels. Peggy walked into the kitchen. "Do you want a drink?"

Tilting her head in consideration the Thompson responded, "Why not."

"Would you put some music?"

"Alright."

Rose moved through the very vivid room where she had walked hundreds of times. She was wearing her favourite burgundy long coat which flared as she walked towards the record player. She was cold so she hadn't taken it off, it would be a while until the chimney in the house warmed the place.

Peggy brought back her drink after Rose finished picking the record and played it. They sat down and began talking about different matters in their lives, some of their experiences together throughout the years, old and new. It was a pleasant and heartwarming talk.

The glass Rose was holding warmed between her hands, she had even taken her coat off, Peggy had done that straight away after entering her house. The fire warmed the place and she barely noticed. So much time had passed that it seemed endless but the clock hadn't marked 10 pm yet.

Peggy's serious tone as she kept a loving expression caught Rose's interest as she stared at her more intently. "I'm so glad to have you in my life, Rose."

The conversation had been filled with fondness, sometimes with happiness, other times sadness, but the emotion in her voice caused Rose's heart to swell. She almost became teary.

"Me too, Peggy."

"You know you'll always be my best friend, right? Even if I'm old and senile and have a bad memory, you'll always be my best friend."

Rose shook her head smiling somewhat worriedly. She hadn't noticed yet, but the clock's hands had moved. "Are you okay, Peg?"

Ever the wise woman, Peggy smiled content. "Yes, I am. I'm glad we had this moment for ourselves. I wanted you to know that I love you."
