Rose turned back to look at Bucky who was staring at her face. Steve and Sam had gone out to contact Sam's guy and look for a car, two people would attract less attention than four, as well as getting something to eat. Steve was also taking charge of recovering their suits.
Rose moved away from the gap that served as a window. "That's debatable." Bucky sighed tensely looking down. "Hey, it's not your fault. After this, we'll get you help, find someone who knows more about this..."
"Someone who knows about hundred-year-old supersoldiers with mental instability? There's a field about those?"
She paid no mind to his snarky tone knowing it wasn't directed at her but mostly to himself. There had also been a hint of joking sarcasm. "There's someone, we just need to find them."
"I don't deserve this much effort," Bucky admitted as she walked towards him. He became more aware of the healing injuries in his face that had been made by Rose, a reminder of what he did hours ago even if he didn't clearly remember everything.
"Well, I beg to differ," Rose told him sitting next to him on the floor. "What you never deserved was any of this to happen to you, but we're here. You need help, you'll get it..." she told him firmly. "I'm sorry, Bucky," she told him sincerely after a pause.
For the first time since 1943, Rose was able to say it to his face.
"I'm truly, awfully sorry."
"You didn't do this to me."
Rose let out a puff of air softly in realisation. "You don't remember, do you?"
He furrowed his eyebrows. "What are you talking about?"
"Azzano? Where you were captured," he shook his head as he remembered, "that was me. None of this would've happened if I'd just done things differently. Maybe there would've been no train to stop in the first place if I'd—"
