"fiona. fionaaa!" a familiar voice called from the outside of the swampy cottage me and my beloved husband shrek shared. 

i left the sleeping triplets, which i was watching in their log cradles to go to the busted door. "come in donkey!" i said "but please be quiet, i finally go the babies to sleep."

"okay okay fion-aye." donkey said sadly entering our, humble, abode. i could tell something was off in his voice it was less lively and his eyes were downcast. i also noticed a spilling teapot around his furry neck. 

"oh donkey what do you have here." i whispered excitedly at the delicious looking tea dripping out of the china pot. 

"the dragoness said it was your favourite back in the tower." donkey said gently averting his eyes. "oh! donkey that's so thoughtful of you." i exclaimed wrapping my arms around his warm neck. he began to deeply sob.

"donkey?" i asked, worry clouding my mind at the sight of my good friend in tears. "i'm so sorry fiona." he said looking away from me. "donkey please sit down, you may hurt yourself!" i said as he began to wobble.  i quickly grabbed the teapot from his arm and ushered him to a chair beside our tiny hearth. 

i poured two classes into our old chipped stone glasses. "please donkey, could you tell me whats bothering you?" i said holding a cup out to his manicured hooves. we're silent for a long time as if donkey is piecing his words together. "fiona..." he starts looking across to me with misty eyes. 

"shrek's cheating on you."

                       WHAT!

my world collapsed at donkey's soft words how could my husband, father of my children, my shrek do this to us. a cup slips from my grasp the shards similar to the shards of my life cover my feet. 

"fiona... fiona i'm so sorry." donkey said lowering his head. "how.." i said blankly.  "for how long." i said looking up at donkey. 

"2 years... ever since the triplets were born." donkey said slowly. "he met them at me and elizabeth's wedding." "ever since then..." 

i felt so broken. 🥲🔫⛓💔
