Echoes of Metamorphosis

Chapter 13

Damian and I had just arrived back home from the most wonderful first date I've ever had and we said our hellos to everyone that was still in the front room and from there we both went hand in hand over to the kitchen to grab a little bite to eat, "What're we having? Because I'm pretty stuffed right now from the food and the lovely fresh blood we had." I said to him as he was searching around in the cupboards.

"We could have some of Charlie's food right here? Hopefully she won't mind." Damian giggled as he grabbed the packet and closed the door to the cupboard and dragged me upstairs to my room as it's the closest to the stairs right now. I loved his laugh, it made me happy.

While we were sitting in my room eating, we also talked about everything and anything that we wanted to talk about. We were on the topic of how Damian was turned and when all that happened, I was thankful that he was happy to speak about it. "It all happened in 1541 when Henry the VIII was king, I was only 18 at the time and I was out for a quick little wonder while there wasn't anyone around so I could have a few minutes to myself to just think and I guess I must've cut my leg on something..." he said while trying to retrace his steps, "and there were some strange looking guys that came over to me - quite quickly might I add - and then all of a sudden there was a sharp pain in my neck and wrist, everything then went black".

I started to really see a little bit of how similar our transitions were. "My transition was a little bit like yours, although I did see something in that alleyway on that night that wasn't Raphael when I was supposed to arrive at the next town over". He looked a little apologetic about that. "I'm sure he's sorry about that by the way. He really didn't mean to cause you any of this." He replied softly.
"Hey hey hey," I said but continued "It's all okay! If you hadn't have been in that alleyway with him or if I didn't see you, I wouldn't have had the pleasure to meet you and actually get to know you! These past few months have actually been the best of my entire life so far, so I wanna say thank you. Thank you for literally saving my life. And same goes for Raphael". I finished with tears in my eyes.

He looked at me with slight concern for the way I said that he saved my life. Because he did, life wasn't easy before any of this happened but I'm so glad it did, I wouldn't change it for anything. So I told him the rest of my life story, the whole coming out and stuff, and he just listened to every word, only interrupting when he had a question. I've never had anyone as amazing as him in my life before but I guess he just really understands me now, and I'm glad he does.

"I'm excited for the next month because I should be able to get in for top surgery which is gonna be hard because we don't know what the healing process is gonna be like but I'm sure we'll work it out and I'm sure it'll be a whole lot quicker than it needs to be because of the whole vampire thing". I said with a bit of excitement in my voice and Damian could tell because he was smiling too.
"You know, I love seeing you excited and I think that's one of the reasons why I love you."
Did he just say what I think he said? Am I dreaming or is this shit real right now? "You love me?" I said. He giggled and was a little surprised at what he said too. "Yes you dummy, haven't I been making that as obvious as possible in the last month? I love you okay?" Wow okay, I guess he really does. I better say it back now before I ruin the moment.
"I... I.. I love you too". That wasn't difficult at all but it felt so good to finally say out loud. We both just stared at each other and finally just laughed because we were both happy. The next thing I know, I'm walking over to him and looking at his lips and then kissing them. And oh BOY did the fireworks go off because that's how good it felt to finally be kissing him and touching him.

I had fantasised about that moment since the day I first laid my eyes on him.
