It had been a week since the double date, and Sunny and Aubrey hadn't so much as held hands since that day. Sunny, touch-starved as he was, had gotten more clingy around Mari. Aubrey, with no siblings, was not so lucky. While she initially snuggled up with Bun-Bun a bit more, Bun-Bun had days where it would squirm away, preferring to keep to itself.

It was on one such autumn morning where the white rabbit wanted time to itself. Aubrey lay upon her bed, imagination running wild. She held both her hands together, imagining herself holding hands with Sunny, following him wherever his whims took them. The imaginary pair lay on a picnic blanket in the secret hideout watching the clouds go by, just enjoying each other's presence. She pulled her pillow out from under her head, imagining Sunny rolling over on top of her, hugging her close. She responded by hugging her pillow tightly.

"Oh... Sunny..." She thought to herself, lonely.

The more she snuggled with her pillow, the louder her thoughts became, so much so that she didn't notice herself verbalising her thoughts.

"Sunny... Mmm... Sunny..."

Indeed, she didn't even notice the sound of someone climbing up the ladder to her room, or moving closer to her bed, up until she flipped herself on her bed, meeting the gaze of one blushing onyx-haired boy.

"S-SUNNY!?" Aubrey gasped, red filling her face. She sat up and backed herself to the wooden wall her bed was next to, hugging her pillow like a shield. "Why- When did you- How long have you been standing there?"

Sunny's blush had already filled his face. "I- I wanted to visit... so I let myself in... I heard you calling my name... Was I interrupting any...? I'll go-" Sunny started slowly turning around.

"WAIT. Wait. Sunny." Sunny turned back to face her, as Aubrey put both her arms out towards him, averting her eyes. Her face still maintained its healthy red glow.

Sunny was confused for just a moment, before Aubrey broke the second-long silence. "Hug. Now."

His confusion turned to realisation. Sunny leapt onto the bed, almost tackling Aubrey into the wall behind her. "Oof! Eager, are we?" Sunny only responded with a smile no one saw.

As they slowly lay themselves onto the bed, Sunny broke the hug for a moment only to bury his head into the crook of Aubrey's neck, smiling all the way. The ruffle of Sunny's hair on Aubrey's face tickled her slightly, eliciting a giggle from the pink-haired girl. She tousled his hair, running her fingers through the soft mess. The mixed smell of him and his shampoo hit her, widening her smile, and lightly tightening her grip on his back. Leaning her head on his, she unabashedly inhaled his scent, happy to just be with him.

The pair enjoyed each other's warmth for a few minutes, relaxing and slowing their breathing to match each other. Aubrey stopped stroking Sunny's head and back and settled with holding him against her, both arms on his back. The silence was broken by a soft voice in the crook of Aubrey's neck. "I love you, Aubrey."

Aubrey tightened her grip on him, her smile growing once more. When did he become this forward? She thought. He's so cute. She snickered. "Love you too, Sun-Bun." She felt his shoulders tense and the heat from his face grow as she said the pet name. The smirk on her face grew a little more before she pursed her lips to hide it. She leaned closer to his ear. "What's wrong, Sunny-Bun?" she whispered, leaning even closer. "You suddenly tensed up."

Aubrey's whispering next to his oh-so-sensitive ears combined with the pet names she never let up on caused Sunny to almost physically melt into her. He held her tighter, burying himself harder into her, trying to hide his embarrassed face. He didn't know she could feel his fluttering smile pressing into her. Partially failing to hide her wide grin, she half-jokingly whispered, "Sunshine? You alright there?", causing him to quiver in her grasp. Way too cute.

His soft voice came up muffled in the crook of her neck. "I just... really, really love you... is all."

In her thoughts, Aubrey punched the wall a couple of times. It's not fair for him to be this cute! She pushed a knuckle into her mouth, stifling the grin still present on her face. As she used her other hand to ruffle his hair again, she felt her fading blush start rapidly coming back. "You're not really getting this mushy on me, are you, Sunny?"

"It's true..." She felt him hug her tighter for a second. "I never want you to feel lonely ever again."

Her wide grin softened, and her heart warmed. Even while she was teasing him, he was concerned about her earlier wellbeing. Her teasing grin slowly turned into a warm smile, as she once again lay her arms across his back. "Thanks, Sunny. In that case, can we stay like this for a while longer?"

"Mm..." Came the response.

The pair fell asleep like that on that cool autumn day, the cold wind blowing through Aubrey's room every once in a while waking one of them up and causing them to snuggle closer to the other. Almost four hours passed, before the beep of an alarm woke both of them up.

"Ah, it's 1pm already? Sorry, Sunny, I promised Kim I would meet her for lunch." Aubrey sat up, but found the attempt difficult. Sunny had made no effort to move, his arms still locked around her back, his head now relocated to her lap. "Sunny? C'mon, I gotta go." She shook him a bit, assuming he was still asleep.

A soft response came from her lap. "Nnooo... Want moore hug...."

She smiled. Cute. He reminded her of Mewo. She ruffled his hair once more. "I'm out of time, Sunny. C'mon, we can cuddle more later."

"Nooo...." Came the soft response. "More cuddleee..."

A loud rumble came from Sunny's stomach, causing Aubrey to chuckle. "Alright, come on, Sun-bun, let's get you some lunch."

She attempted to stand up, but was still held back by the red-eared Sunny. She sighed. And she got an idea.

Reaching below Sunny's knees and his neck, she lifted him in a princess carry. Surprisingly light. Aubrey thought. Sunny, surprised, broke his grip for a second, only to reestablish his arms around Aubrey's neck. "There. Now we can both do what we want to do." She smirked at him, watching him melt into her with a flushing, smiling face. That's way too cute. Catching herself staring, she averted her gaze, quickly moving to bring him out of the room.

Eventually, Sunny let go after getting his fill of pizza. They bid goodbye to each other, Sunny almost having a skip in his walk as he headed back home.

Aubrey made her way back home, crashing onto the chair in her room. Sunny is kinda cute when he's all clingy like that. She absentmindedly thought to herself. As she started moving herself onto her bed, she caught a whiff of a familiar scent. Oh. Sunny held onto me for so long that his smell is on my clothes.

Laying onto her bed, she gingerly put her shirt to her nose and took a sniff, slowly wrapping her arms around herself. Mm... Almost as if he were right here... She smiled, slowly closing her eyes.

"Okay Aubrey. I didn't say anything earlier. I think I'm owed an explanation. What's going on here?"

Kim and Aubrey sat at a table at Gino's. Sunny still maintained his position on Aubrey's lap, snuggling into the side of her head, his arms around her neck. Aubrey, holding a piece of pizza, brought it closer to Sunny's mouth. He happily took a bite, before continuing to snuggle into Aubrey. "He snuck into my home. Can I keep it?" She sarcastically asked, desperately trying to hide the smile that came up every time he tickled her neck with his hair.
