"Your-your-" I start.
"Mortal," Asher finishes my sentence and gazes deeply in my eyes.
Holy crap. Holy crap.
"You can breathe, and you can eat and you can- die," I say and run my hands through his hair.
He takes my hand.
"I can grow old with you, if you'd have me," he smirks.
I smile.
"Of course."
I press my forehead against his.
"How did this happen?" I ask.
He ponders his answer and then replies.
"God stripped me of my immortality."
I stand up, excited.
"Does that mean you can't read my thoughts?"
He smiles.
"Nope."
Oh.
I chew on the inside of my cheek.
Suddenly, someone clears their throat.
Asher eyes me as if saying 'did you do that?'.
I shake my head and begin looking around frantically.
I man steps behind Asher out of nowhere.
I recognize his blonde hair and blue eyes.
"As sweet as this has been, you know spying on you two love birds; we really need to go!"
It's Peter!
Asher abruptly turns around.
"You know him?" Asher asks pointing a thumb in his direction.
"Don't worry! Nothing happened between us if you know what I mean," Peter says jabbing Asher lightly in his side with his elbow.
Asher eyes Peter like he just told him to shave off his hair and go look for Bigfoot.
"I really wasn't worried about that," Asher rudely remarks.
I interrupt them.
"Peter, what are you doing here?"
Peter crosses his arms and smiles.
"I'm here to take you to Heaven!"
My eyebrows knit together.
"What? I'm not going back there!" I exclaim.
Peter looses his smile.
"What? Why?"
I throw my arms in the air.
"I'd have to wear a blind fold!"
"No you wouldn't! Since your being trained for battle there, you won't have to!"
My eyes widen like golf balls.
"BATTLE?"
Asher's head whips back and forth, trying to keep up with our heated conversation.
"Yes! We are going right now."
Peter grabs ahold of Asher and my hand.
And just like that, I'm not standing by my lake anymore.
