Ethereal = Venti x Reader

Three times a charm! (happy new year!)

     "Happy new year Y/N!" Venti looks over at you. His aquamarine eyes sparkling. His lips curved into a smile.

     It's been a year since you and Venti have met. And it's been a year since you fell in love with him. Your wish was to kiss him by the end of December 31st. But you didn't know how...

The first time you tried to kiss him and the first hour of the party started like this...

You step out of the house, wearing a warm large coat and a long scarf that has a beautiful shade of F/C. The atmosphere felt cold, and the breeze made you shiver. You were excited about the festival tonight since it was the last day of 2021. The bard was waiting for you with a little grin on his face.

"Hey Y/N! Ready for the last day of 2021??" he asked as he bounced up and down. His hair slowly went up and down like it was in slow motion. And Venti's large scarf almost covered his face. It was funny to watch.

You nod and replied with, "yeah!"

The green fellow held out his hand, "C'mon, let's go. I want to taste the finest dandelion wine soon!"

You immediately grabbed his hands, surprisingly they were warm and you loved the feeling. His face flushed and smiled slightly but his scarf covered Venti's smile. You giggled and pulled down the scarf a bit so you can see his rosy cheeks and nose. You couldn't help stepping closer to him, so close... this was your chance!

"Come get a free sample of the freshest dandelion wine! Come, come!"

"Ooh! Wine!"

He held your hand hard and started running to the wine stand. Being dragged by your best friend. Your first try got distracted by a wine stand. Aw man. Maybe next time?

     The second time you tried to kiss him started like this...

     You bit into a caramelized apple, so sweet and sour. Looking over to the bard, he had two of them in his hands. Face full of satisfaction that he has two of the most delicious apples dipped into the tastiest sticky caramel. Loud music was heard from afar. Venti's head perked up and started bopping to the beat of the song.

     "Did ya hear that Y/N? Beautiful music! Wanna dance with me over there?" he gazed at you.

     "Of course Venti! I think we can do a song request too, what song do you want to listen to while we dance?" Y/N asked.

     Then both of you grinned and shouted out loud together, "(Insert your favourite song)!"

     "Ehe! I knew you were going to say that N/N!" he laughed and dragged you to the place where the music is.

     Both of your favourite songs were played by the small band. Venti twirls you around and chuckles at your facial expressions as the both of you dance. Dancing in a slow flow. Place filled with melodies and laughter, having a fun time. Then, you almost slip but Venti catches you in time. Faces were close together. Cheeks filled with warmth. Puffs of breaths came out of you two, and the cold made it visible. Your face came closer to his and your face heats up. This was your second chance!

     Klee made Venti trip backwards on accident and his back hurt a lot, "Master Ton Deaf Bard, Klee is so sorry!"

     "Ow-ow-ow--!! It-It's fine! My back hurts a but though..." Venti reassured, standing up slowly.

     Your second try got distracted by a falling accident and a little burny girl. Aw man... Third times a charm?

     The third time you tried to kiss him started like this...

     The two of you sat on the Barbato's Statue's hand. Feet dangling off of the edge. Watching and listening to the people scream out the count down of the year as both of you sip on juicy apple cider. Venti whispered the countdown with the people as he sat beside you.

     "10..."

     You gulped.

     "9..."

     This will be your chance.

     "8..."

     You better not miss it.

     "7..."

     You started to count along with him.

     "6..."

     "5..."

     You two glanced at each other.

     "4..."

     Venti's lips curved into a soft smile.

     "3..."

      Slowly, your face leaned a bit closer to his. Just a tiny bit.

     "2..."

     ?!?

     "1!"

     Cheering, laughter, chattering. The fireworks boomed. But... the booming sounded so soft... It was because...

     Venti's lips were pressed onto yours. The bard's eyes were shut. His hand on your shoulder. His other hand intertwined with yours. You didn't expect this to happen. Venti beat you to it. The kiss felt like an eternity, you didn't want it to end. The bard pulls away and holds your hands tight.

     "Beat ya Y/N! Ehe!" he giggled. He opened his eyes and his face was so red. But, he acted like everything was normal.

     "Venti..." you breathed, "You..."

     "You love me. -And I love you!" Venti pecked your forehead, "Happy New Year Y/N! I love you."

     "You cheated! Whatever... I love you too... Happy New Year Venti!"

oh my God happy NEW YEAR GUYS?!? 2022 already?? 2021 went by so fast!! I decided to write a short thing to celebrate this new year! I'm sorry about the rewrite, I couldn't write anything because I was so busy. I don't really make promises so.. 😭😭 Okay, goodbye guys!! I hope you liked this mini chapter!
