Tanya Adams pushed her way through the many witches, wizards and Hogwarts students on platform 9 and 3 quarters. Sometimes, well it wasn't just sometimes more like many times a day, she wished she had a family that would kiss and hug her goodbye. However, Tanya had been an orphan for 8 of the 14 years she'd lived. And six years of her life with a loving family was more than enough to create millions of memories that would later be cherished and guarded like a chest full of diamonds and happiness. As her mind wandered off to explore the hidden corner in which the precious memories resided she felt a sudden jolt of pain spring up her nose.
"Ouch!" She exclaimed suddenly.
"Excuse me, but are you alright?" A boy with sandy brown hair that swept across his forehead asked her, he had a gentle hand on her shoulder in concern. At his touch her cheeks were painted a pale pink, she desperately hoped the other 3 boys behind him didn't notice.
"Oh I'm umm just f-fine thank you" she mumbles, stumbling over her words. The embarrassment of it made her blush even more and she pulled the edge of the over sized pale blue sweater she was wearing down over her hands in shyness.
"Oh good!" He says, a grin now grew on his face.
"I-I guess I'll go now.. to um" she pauses thinking for a second "find a carriage" she finishes with a sigh, before turning around and almost running off."Well she was certainly shy, though I doubt she was intimidated by us, probably you Moony" Sirius Black joked with his best friend, gaining a playful punch from Remus Lupin. Lupin may have been the tallest in the group of four but seemed about as intimidating a rabbit, despite the scars that trailed across the pale skin on his face, arms and neck.
"Oh shut up Padfoot" he says, still smiling.Tanya soon found an empty carriage, she was still too flustered to think straight and although finding her best friend Xenophilius Lovegood would have been a good idea she'd completely forgotten what would be good and what bad.
"Why am I acting like this, he's just a student!!" She groaned in annoyance at herself but deep down she understood exactly why she was acting like how she was. That was Remus Lupin, one of the four boys that made up the marauders. And the marauders were the biggest pranksters in the school, Sirius Black seeming to get a new girlfriend every single week, James Potter was obviously far too obsessed with Lily Evans to even cast a romantic thought to any other girl, Peter Pettigrew tended to just scurry around behind the others and Remus Lupin, well he always seemed to have his head stuck in a book, and that was exactly what made Tanya prefer him over any of the other maruaders. They were actually in the same house and year but Tanya was far too busy spending time with Xenophilius and the Ravenclaws to notice who was actually in her house. There was something about the Ravenclaws that just made them the best company and her love of books and learning helped her fit in with them as well. She had really expected to become a Ravenclaw when in her first year and before she had lost her parents they had told her countless times she was bound to end up in Ravenclaw. At the simple thought of the family she once had and cherished, tears pricked the back of her eyes and threatened to spill onto her cheeks. As she eventually calmed down slightly she got a book out and began to read. It was a muggle book called Nothern Lights and was the first in a series of three called His Dark Materials. Her parents had gotten her them for her for her 6th birthday. A week after and she attending their funeral. She hadn't read them for that reason and as she opened the first page tears began to prick the back of her eyes once again but she continued reading."Please James, let's find the compartment she's in!" Remus says to his friend, tugging on his sleeve as they searched for the compartment the girl they'd briefly met earlier Sat in.
"Fine, for you little Moony" James Potter said as a reply, even though 'Moony' was the tallest in the group and hardly little.Suddenly the door to Tanya's compartment slid open, making her gasp slightly in surprise, she really hadn't expected anyone to sit in this particular compartment. She looked over the edge of her book at the newcomers. Her mouth formed a perfect 'O' in surprise: it was the marauders. Remus looked over at her with a grin on his face and she smiled back shyly.
For a second there was silence, as the two were watched by the others until Tanya remembered her manners and gestured for them to sit down. She was sitting in the corner closest to the window, Remus at the other side, facing her. Beside him sat James and Peter and next to Tanya sat Sirius.
"So you are?" Sirius turned to face her. She felt herself getting shyer by the second under his gaze.
"T-tanya Adams" she mumbles quietly looking down.
"How about you look at the person you're talking too, huh?" He says chuckling slightly.
"Oh! I'm terribly sorry" she says stumbling over her words slightly again.
"Hey, it's fine" Remus reassures her.
"Yeah don't worry I was only joking" Sirius adds
"We're guessing you know who we are?" James says after a few moments of silence. Tanya nods.
"Thought so, I mean we are the marauders!" He says slightly cockily, putting emphasis on the words are and marauders.20 minutes passed by, 20 minutes of shy glances over their books between her and Remus, to the ultimate amusement of James and Sirius.
"Wait a second! Aren't you the Gryffindor that is literally a Ravenclaw?" Peter suddenly exclaimed.
"Well I'm umm s-sure some may think of me like that" she says, thinking hard before answering his question.
"Well it'll do you good to actually have some Gryffinndor friends!" Sirius states loudly.
"I'm not on the best of terms with rather a few of the Gryffinndors so i'm not sure that'd be such a good idea" She says, completely confused."Not with the other Gryffinndors you silly, with us!"James pipes in, shooting a quick smirk at Remus.
"Oh, I'll get on just fine with my other friends, I really don't want to get in your way, I-I'm sure I'd just be a nuisance," she says, once again stuttering slightly.
"Nope, we can always do with extra brains for our pranks and we're sure you're plenty smart," Sirius says, cutting her off.
She sighs and thinks for a moment, her eyebrows slightly furrowed, "are you really sure about this?" She says after a good time of thinking about the matter.
"Of course!" Remus says, beaming once again.
"If she's to be one of us we might as well get her a nickname, make her an honorary member of the Marauders" James says, smirking at the look of delight on Remus' s face.
"Me? A marauder?" She says, her eyebrows furrowed slightly in confusion.
"Well now James had said so, you just need a nickname and you're an official marauder!" Sirius says, also smirking but not fully at Remus, a mischievous glint has appeared in his eye, the glint that usually appeared when a prank was being planned.
"We based our of our um patronouses" Remus pipes up.
"Oh I believe mines a horse!" She says, with as much enthusiasm as him.
"Sparkledust definitely" Sirius says, his face almost emotionless until a smirk crept back onto his features.
Tanya gently elbowed his side and laughed along with the rest of them.
"But seriously how about Star?" Sirius says and the others all nod whilst she gave it a bit of consideration before nodding as well.
"Is is that Hogwarts?" Peter says interrupting them all.
"Yes, yes it is"Word Count: 1371
