Ness, Paula, Jeff, Tony, Ninten, Ana and Lloyd all went inside. It was not like it was cold; it was summer in western Eagleland after all. They just decided now was the best time.
"Jeff, is that you?" Paula asked, wide-eyed.
"Yes. And this is Tony," Jeff replied, patting Tony on the back.
"Don't touch me," Tony backed away from him.
"I haven't seen you in forever! How's it been?"
"It's been alright."
Everybody sat down on some sittees and armchairs.
"So, what brings you all to Ness's house?" Paula asked them all.
"He said it was something secret and it's probably not for all of us anyway," Ninten answered, uncharacteristically soft-spoken, "We are having a sleepover, though."
"Huh? Really?" she beamed, looking at a nervous Ness who was blushing.
'Does she want to join? If so... this is the perfect time...'
"D-do you want to come over with us?" he requested.
"Depends what my parents'll say."
'Aw, darn it! I know how strict Paula's dad is!'
"Eh, I'll just call them now to see what they'll say."
Paula went up to the phone and dialed the number, why everybody stayed quiet. She faced the group and put her finger over her mouth. Everybody nodded, except Ness, who was too busy looking at the ground in surprise.
An awkward silence ensued while Paula briefly talked on the phone.
"Hello? Mom? Yeah, hi, I'm at Ness's house and I want to know if I can have a sleepover... You're gonna ask Dad?..."
Ninten went to go get a fizzy drink while Ana and Lloyd reclined on the sittee. Tony made sure not to look at Jeff, constantly moving his head as if it were a bobblehead.
"Really? I can go?! Alright!! I'll come back to get my stuff. See you soon! ...love you... Bye!"
Click!
"Alright, Ness, my parents have allowed me to go."
"Yes!" he cheered.
"Looks like someone's got a crush!" Lloyd whispered to Ana, which made her chuckle.
"Let's get going! Are you going to teleport?"
"Nah, I'd rather take the scenic route."
"Alright."
They left and shut the door behind them.
Ninten came back, opened the soda can, chugged some and spat it out, the Ninten-spit (officially called Ninten-spucke) mixed with the fizzy drink beautifully cascaded into a yucky mess on the carpeted floor.
"BLEURGH! Why do y'all have ketchup flavoured soda?! Gross!" he subsequently gagged.
"H-hey... that's my favourite flavour!" Lloyd replied meekly, looking as if he would like a swig of the stuff.
"Why did you take it in the first place?" Ana grinned playfully, clearly enjoying the show.
"I don't know! I like ketchup so I thought it'd taste like Heinz! How was I to know it'd taste like crap?!"
"Check the ingredients, Ninty."
"... 'Natural and artificial ketchup flavouring'? How the heck can flavour be natural and artificial at the same time?! Bullshit!"
