Cheryl's sitting at her desk in her office, looking at some papers when she hears a knock on her door."Come in" she says, looking up at the door as her assistant walks in.
"Hi Ms. Blossom, I'm just here to inform you on, potentially, your next client." Claire says, entering the room.
"My next client?" She asks with a raised eyebrow and confused expression on her face. She doesn't remember getting any news from anyone new.
"Well, yes someone requested you to them and now they want you as their lawyer." Claire says" with a small, nervous smile.
"Okay, I'm listening" Cheryl says, sitting up in her chair and crossing her left leg over her right.
"Well, her name is Antoinette Johnson, she's 27, and she wants to file a divorce. I don't know her reasons, but I'm gonna guess it's a code red." Claire says, while her smile fades from her face.
"What makes you think that?" Cheryl asks with a concerned look on her face, even more interested than she was at first. A code red is what they had called it when they were working with someone who was trying to leave an abusive or possessive relationship. Code reds didn't come in commonly to Cheryl anymore and were harder to win sometimes, mostly because of all the stress that it brought Cheryl last time.
"Well, when she called, she sounded like she didn't have much time to talk. There was also a hint of fear in her voice, it sounded like she was desperate to get out of the relationship, it just didn't sound good." Claire explains with a slightly worried look on her face.
"Okay, did she give you her address?" Cheryl asks
"No, but you can call her and ask?" Claire suggests.
"What if it's not safe..." Cheryl says with a small frown and worried look on her face while biting down on her bottom lip, thinking back to her last code red case.
"I understand, you must be stressed ma'am especially after-" Claire says but gets cut off by Cheryl.
"Don't. We agreed to not talk about it anymore." Cheryl says glaring at the girl, trying to fight back the tears filling her eyes.
"My apologies, would you like her number anyways? Maybe you can contact her in a couple hours?" Claire suggests.
"Sure" Cheryl says, picking up her phone off the desk and typing the number into her contacts as Claire reads the number off of her recent calls.
"Okay well, I'll leave you to it miss, you know what to do if you need me" Claire says leaving the room.
Cheryl lets out a sigh while laying her head upwards on the back of the chair and looking up at the ceiling, trying to decide if she should call yet or not.
~~with Toni
"Steven, please! I just want to go out and hang out with my friends for a for a bit...my birthday is in a couple days, and I just want to go see them!" Toni begs, looking at her husband who is standing by the door while she is on the couch.
"NO! Stop asking, all of your friends are males, and I don't want you sleeping around with them like the little slut you are!" Steven yells. All Toni can see when she looks into his eyes is anger. No love, no care, just anger and possession.
"What if I just went on a walk? I haven't been on one alone in a while" Toni asks, she would do anything to get out of the house away from him, even for just a little while.
"If I let you out alone, you'll just run to them, or worse, fill someone's head with lies about how 'badly' I treat you" he says putting quotation marks in the air while saying badly. Toni just stays silent, not wanting the conversation to go any further, knowing the consequences.
"I'm leaving, I'll be back in about an hour. If you know what's good for you then I suggest not going anywhere." Steven says while glaring at her, then leaves the house.
About 10 minutes after he left Toni's phone started ringing, she assumed it was Steven since he was the only person who knew her number. She picked up the phone without looking at it and answered, on the other end she hears a female voice which surprises her.
