A/N: I wrote this chapter probably about 4 months ago now so I've decided to js finally publish it. Hope you enjoy 😭🕵🏾‍♀️.

Cheryl's POV:
I was resting on my couch, reading, when my phone started to buzz. I picked it up, curiously looking at the unknown number and answered it.

"Hello?" I spoke into the phone.

"Hey Cheryl..it's me, Toni" The other voice responded.

To say I was shocked would be an understatement...

"Toni!...what's going on?" I asked, trying to mask my excitement.

"Nothing really...I just wanted to reach out to you and see if we could possibly meet up for brunch sometime soon? Just as friends, so we could catch up?" She asked.

I could tell she was just as anxious as I was, if not more. I will admit, it did kind of hurt to hear  'just as friends'  but it's better than nothing...she's moved on in life, I should be happy for her and aspire to do the same.

"Sure..! Is tomorrow around 10:30 okay for you?" I suggested.

"Really?! And yes that's perfect" She responded. I could hear her smile in her voice.

"Yes, really. Now I've got to go, it's getting pretty late, see you tomorrow Toni" I half lied. It wasn't too late for me and I certainly wasn't tired but I don't think I could handle being on call with her for much longer.

"Yea yea, once again, sorry for the late call. See you tomorrow Cheryl, have a good night" She apologized again before hanging up.

THIRD PERSON POV:

The redhead placed her phone down with a sigh and prepared herself for bed. Tomorrow was going to be interesting...

The brunette sat anxiously in the booth of the cozy, well-known diner. Her leg bouncing uncontrollably. Her head snapped up at the door at the sound of the bell, just to be disappointed for the 5th time that she's been here. She let out a deep breath, trying to calm herself down but failing miserably.

After about 10 minutes from their set time, the redhead finally walked through the door, sitting down from across Toni.

"Hi, sorry I'm late..traffic was pretty bad" She apologized.

"No worries!" Toni smiled, trying to mask her anxiety.

"It's good to see you.." Cheryl smiled, breaking the small window of silence.

"Yea! You too!" The brunette smiled back at her.

Cheryl had been observing Toni the whole time they were there. Every single detail. She truly seemed better and happier but Cheryl could tell that she was slightly anxious. The younger woman has never been good at hiding that.

"So...how have you been?" Toni asked.

"I've been pretty good...work's going well, how about you?" The redhead shrugged.

"I've been good as well, glad to hear you're okay" The newly made counselor smiled.

Cheryl had been debating asking the question that they were honestly both dreading...she finally decided that she would. It was killing her on the inside to not know.
