Chapter 6

Toni had just walked into Cheryl's office.

"Hi Toni!" Cheryl says

"Hi" Toni responds while sitting down in her same place as usual.

"So, I've been thinking, maybe you could stay in a hotel after you break the news?" Cheryl suggests

"I don't have any money..." Toni says looking down at her hands ashamed.

"I'd be happy to pay for the room!" Cheryl says with a smile on her face

"Cheryl no, that's too much to ask for. Hotel rooms can be expensive" Toni says looking back up at her.

"Money isn't my main concern right now Toni, you are." Cheryl says.

"I'm sorry but I can't accept that Cheryl..." Toni says but stops when she sees Cheryl pick up her phone.

"What if I were to have bought the hotel room just now? It'd be kind of rude of you to not accept it" Cheryl says with a small smirk on her face. 

"You didn't." Toni says, playfully glaring at her.

"I did." Cheryl says with a smile now placed on her face. 

"Thank you..." Toni says with a small smile on her face.

"Of course!" Cheryl says

"Shall we go check in?" Cheryl asks

"Sure" Toni says

"Great! Let's go!" Cheryl says and they walk out of the door.

~in the hotel room~

"Again, thank you so so much" Toni thanks her once again with a huge smile on her face. That smile made Cheryl melt on the inside.

"You're welcome, Toni" Cheryl responds with a smile on her face.

They sit and talk about just a few small things about themselves when Toni feels her phone buzz beside her. She already knows who it is. She takes a deep breath and picks the phone up. She answers the phone and puts it on speaker for Cheryl to hear.

"WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU TONI?" Steven yells from the other side of the phone.

"I-" Toni starts to talk but gets cut off

"GET YOUR ASS HOME RIGHT NOW" He yells. Toni opens her mouth to talk but she can't. She can't defend herself. Cheryl looks up at her and takes the phone from Toni's hands gently.

"Hi" Cheryl says softly

"Who the fuck is this?" Steven asks, not yelling anymore.

"A friend of Toni's, and you are?" Cheryl asks. She knows who it is but wants to try to start conversation with him to buy Toni some time to gather her words and thoughts.

"Her husband. Listen I don't know what she told you but it's all lies!" he says in a calmer tone

"She hasn't told me anything?!" Cheryl says in a questioning tone, pretending to be confused.

"Oh, my mistake" Steven says

"What would she have to lie about?" Cheryl asks

"Nothing, could you just tell her that I'm on my way to get her?" Steven asks

"You know where we are?" Cheryl asks, this time she's actually concerned and confused

"Yea, Toni told me where you guys were going to be hanging out at before she left the house this morning" He lies.

"Oh okay, see you then." Cheryl says

"See you then" Steven says and then hangs up.

After he hangs up Cheryl lets out a sigh and starts pacing back and forth in the room while fidgeting with her hands. 'how does he know where we are' Cheryl thinks to herself over and over while Toni is sitting on the bed, a bit more terrified than Cheryl after hearing his words.

"Tracker!" Cheryl blurts out loud, causing Toni to look at her in confusion.

"What?" Toni asks

"Sorry, I was thinking out loud..." Cheryl apologizes.

"What were you thinking about?" Toni asks

"I think I might know how he knows where we are..." Cheryl says and stops pacing to look at Toni.

"My location on my phone...he probably turned it back on when I wasn't looking" Toni says and Cheryl just nods.

"Cheryl, what're we gonna do when he arrives?" Toni asks as tears start to poor from her eyes, Cheryl rushes over to Toni and sits beside her which causes Toni to look up at her. She really wants to hold her right now but doesn't. 

"It's okay Toni, we won't be here when he arrives. Come on let's go" Cheryl says and grabs Toni's hand softly. She stands up causing Toni to do the same and they walk towards the door but stop when they hear a knock. They were too late.
