Cheryl's POV:

I forced my eyes open as I sat up against my headboard. I did a few stretches before finally getting up and ready for work. I picked out a black pant suit with a white shirt underneath, which is my usual work uniform. I quickly showered and brushed my teeth before getting dressed. I walked downstairs, grabbed my bag and keys before heading to my car. I didn't even bother with breakfast...I haven't had an appetite this past week. I'd have a couple fruits here and there but even those were never finished. I truly don't feel like facing today, not without her.

I arrived at my workplace, not saying my usual greetings to everyone but instead just walked straight to my office. Claire came in shortly after to check in on me and inform me on what work I had for today. Just a few scheduled calls with people who would like to book me. I was mid call with my second potential client when she walked in...

Toni's POV:

"What if she doesn't want to see me?" I nervously paced around the living room.

"Honey, I'm sure she will" My mom attempted to calm me but failed.

"But why would she? I'm sure she's already forgotten about me...I mean it's been a whole week and she hasn't sent anymore texts.." I slightly bit the inside of my lip, still pacing.

"That's probably because you haven't responded to any...have you?" She gave me that look. The look a mother gives her child when she knows she's right. The look that every child hates.

I stopped in my tracks to turn and face her.

"You're right! I haven't responded to anything-" I paused mid sentence in realization.

"I...I haven't responded to anything.." I quietly repeated.

"I fucked up.." I mumbled with my head down.

"Hey! Language!" My mom remarked.

"Sorry! I just- mom she's never going to want to see me again.." I could feel the tears stinging my eyes.

"Sweetie, don't say that...I'm sure she'll understand if you explain" She tried convincing me.

"No. She won't. She...She had a case in the past, similar to mine, and her client randomly disappeared and stopped communication with her...they found her dead a few days later." I cried silently.

"Oh...the poor thing.." My mom frowned, she then brought me into a tight warm hug as I sobbed into her shirt.

"What if...what if she thinks-" I attempted to speak but semi-failed as I choked on my own sobs.

"Shh...I know, I know, sweet girl...everything'll be okay" Mom whispered as she caressed my head, planting a soft kiss on my temple.

About half an hour had passed and my sobs had finally died down.

"Honey, if you don't go and see her soon, she's just going to continue assuming the worst" She informed, pulling back from the embrace to look at me.

I just nodded, wiping the remained tears from my face.

"Can we go see her now? And maybe pick up some food on the way.." I suggested.

"Of course, let's go" My mom smiled.

We ended up getting Cheryl some breakfast as well, we stopped by her house expecting her to be there but she wasn't so we went to the next place we could think of. Her workplace. I took a deep breath before opening the door to my mom's car to get out.

"You got this, okay?" My mom flashed a comforting yet small smile. I nodded in response, a small grin on my lips.

I closed the door and walked towards the building. I wiped my free sweaty palm on my jeans before reaching for the door handle. I made my way to Cheryl's office anxiously. This was it. I'm finally here. I took one last deep breath before knocking on the door, opening it once I heard a soft "come in" from the other side. We locked eyes for a while, hers slightly wider than mine.

No one's POV:

~present time~

Cheryl couldn't believe what she was seeing. Toni was actually okay. Toni was standing right at her office door. Toni wasn't dead. Toni was perfectly fine. Claire had actually been right. Multiple thoughts flowed through the redhead's mind at once.

She was only brought back to reality by an impatient male's voice flowing through her phone. She politely ended the call with the man and placed her phone down on her desk slowly, eyes still locked with Toni's. She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out.

"Cheryl..." Toni was the first to speak up.

"Toni..." The redhead still looked as if she had seen a ghost. She thought her brain was just playing tricks on her. That this was all just a dream.

"Come in" Cheryl smiled slightly. Toni walked towards the desk, sitting down at the chair on the opposite side of Cheryl's.

"I brought you a muffin and some coffee" Toni grinned, placing the bag down on the desk.

"Oh, thank you" Cheryl gratefully accepted the breakfast. After all, she had barely eaten all week.

She took a few sips of her coffee before placing it back down, putting all of her attention back on Toni. She wanted nothing more than to feel the brunette's soft skin again. She was so close yet so far.

"Cheryl...I'm so sorry-" Toni started but stopped mid sentence, stunned by what was currently happening.

The redhead had gotten up and attached herself to Toni. She hugged her so tightly that Toni almost felt like she couldn't breathe. She could feel Cheryl's tears falling onto her shirt as she sobbed. Toni wrapped her arms around the weeping woman, running her fingers through her long, soft locs. She had missed Cheryl's touch. Her voice. Her lips.

She had missed everything about the redhead.
