I walk into class at around 12:50, and school starts at 1. I sit down in a light wood chair with very stalky legs and back with a medal desk that is attached in front of me which is Enid's usual seat. It's located at the back left corner which is the second desk from the left, and is to the right of the door to the classroom. There are about nine chairs in total, four in the front row and five in the back. A large black board sits in front of the chairs with a small teachers desk off to the left corner of it, and on the opposite side is a tall and thin bookcase with very little books in it. I sit there with my frayed and beat up copy of "Romeo and Juliet", and my math notebook hoping that when Carl walks in he'll sit next to me.
But at the same time, I know I can't get close to him. I cant decide what to do. I open my math notebook and doodle on the first clean page until Enid walks in.
Then Charlie and his best friend, Kara walk in together while talking. She's the same age as him with short dark brown hair that reaches the top of her shoulders and is pinch straight. She has side swept bangs that are a little shorter than the rest of her hair. Her eyes are a light hazel, and she has fair skin. She's about an inch taller than him and is average weight for a thirteen year old girl, with a small bust. She has a roundish face and a medium sized forehead with thin lips, and a small nose. They both sit next to each other in the from corner opposite of me, Carl, and Enid.
Enid sits down to the right of my seat looking puzzled. "Hey, why are you sitting in my seat. I usually sit there and you usually sit in the corner."
"I don't know... I wanted to mixed things up I guess." That was a huge lie. I wanted Carl to sit next to me but at the same time I didn't. God was a confusing myself.
Another three minuets go by and Ron and Mikey show up and take the two seats in front of me. Carl trails behind them and then spots me and sits down in the chair to the left of me.
YESSS. Wait, SHIT
"Hey, Hazel," Carl speaks with a tired a distressed voice. He seems to really hate going to school more than me, and that's saying something.
Shit. I really need to get away from him fast.
"Hey, Carl." I continue to doodle and he peaks over my shoulder to see what I'm doing.
"Do you always hover over people drawing?" I say sarcastically.
"No, but wow your a really good artist."
"This?" I point to my drawing and look at him. "Oh, this is nothing I'm just doodling." I continue to draw and talk to Carl.
"Not to me. That's a really good... fox in the woods?" He questions not exactly sure what he's looking at.
"It's supposed to be a wolf, but thanks. It's still a work in progress."
"It's really cool." I can feel Ron eyeing our conversation through the corner of my eye. God is Ron jealous.
"Thanks. I love to draw nature and animals. People are too boring for me to draw."
"Why?"
I look up at Carl. "I don't know... Humans are too similar for me. I like to draw trees, landscapes, and animals because they are always very different every time.
"Cool... So, what are you guys learning now?" Carl asks.
"I don't know. I don't really pay much attention. Something about a book and some equations."
"So I'm guess you really hate this "school" or whatever you wanna call it."
"Big time. I never do my homework. It's soooo stupid... We shouldn't be learning math and English. We should learn how to protect ourselves." I cup my left hand and lean close to his ear. "After this is when the good stuff happens." I lean back in my chair to see his reaction.
