One by one we walk through the door. Rick stands by the kitchen, drinking a glass of water when he notices our entrance.

Rick looks at us then at Conner, then back at us in confusion. "Who's this?"

"Connor. He's Hazel's old friend." Daryl responds before anyone else can. Rick just glances at him like he was a piece of gum under his shoe.

"He doesn't have a place to stay so we thought he would stay here." I add. A

"Sit him down." Rick commands.

Daryl kinda shoves him down on a sofa nearby and stands behind him while everyone else crowds around him.

"How many walkers have you killed?" Rick asks as if he's done this a million times before.

"I- I don't know. I stopped counting a while ago." Conner replies a little puzzled at his question.

"How many people have you killed?"

"N-none- what are these questions about?"

"They're to see if you fit in the group." Rick replies a bit annoyed. He leans back in his armchair. "Alright. I'll let you in. But, Hazel-"

My attention is awakened by Ricks voice. "Yes?"

"I trust you to watch over Connor. Make sure he doesn't do anything stupid." I nod, agreeing with his statement.

"Let's see how you do in this place... But any screw ups and you're out." Rick sternly says to Conner.

Look, I get Ricks whole "I gotta be the tough one and protect the group act" but I hope this doesn't last long.

Before we begin to head out of the group's house, Connor stops Rick and says, "Thanks for letting me stay here Rick. It means a lot."

Rick just glares at him with a confusing glare to read. He just nods and walks up the stairs.

"Well, that went well." Conner jokes.

"Yeah he's a bit tough at first, but once you get to know him he's a really great guy." I reassure. "Come on, I'll show you around." I smile and gesture to the door. The rest stay in the house and get some food.

I lead him out the door and show him around Alexandria. We first head down the street and meet some people around the neighborhood. I then show him my favorite spot at the park to watch the stars and then lead him back to my house.

"And this is my place."

"Wow. Nice."

"Thanks." I smirk with thoughts of the good parts of our past. "Come on let's go in!"

I grab his arm and drag him into the house and show him around.

"So this is the living room, kitchen, dining room and bathroom."

"Your place is really nice."

"Thanks." I smile widely again.

I feel so good when I'm around him. He's sweet and caring. He makes me a feel like I'm invincible. Like I can do anything with him by my side.

I lead him up the stairs and point to Charlie's room and then my room.

"So, what do you want to do now that you got the 'grand tour'"?

"Umm... I don't know. Relax and talk I guess?" I mean not much to do in your free time these days anymore. Most of your free time is preoccupied by trying to live to the next day."

I never really thought about what Conner said until now. He's right. I have no goals, no ambitions, not hobbies anymore. I'm not going to go anywhere in my life except constantly try to survive.

"So... You wanna talk in my room?"

"Uh... Sure." He casually replies.

We enter my bedroom and we both sit on my bed across from each other.

"So... Is there anyone else our age around here? Or is it just you?" Conner asks.

"No there's mostly younger kids and a few older kids, but there's a few kids around our-" I get cut off by a sudden voice.

"HAZEL!" Someone hollers faintly. It sounded like it was coming from downstairs.

"I-" the voice yells again. I immediately recognize his voice.

"HAZEL!"

"Give me one second. I'll be right back." I get up and walk to the closed door only to watch it open to reveal Carl two inches away from my face.

"Carl... Hi." I say blankly and a bit surprised.

"Hey Hazel... Ugh I just wanted to know if you wanted to hangout..." He stops his sentence when he notices Conner in the room. "Wait who's he?"

"Oh Carl, meet Conner. We used to be really good friends a few years back. He's gonna stay with us for a while."

He just stares at Connor with very unwelcoming eyes, then looks back at me normally.

"I can see that you're busy so I'll come back later." He turns around and starts to walk away but I gently grab his hand and pull him back.

"Wait! Why don't we all hang out... In the woods," I suggest.

"In the woods? Are you serious?" Connor asks skeptically.

Carls lips curl into a sly smile. "Very serious. Don't worry if you don't want to come you don't have to."

"No I do it's just that...-" Conner replies.

"Don't worry Connor we bring guns to keep us safe and it's actually fun. Just come with us please? It'll be fun!" I beg.

"... Ok fine." Conner says in defeat.

"Great, let's go." Carl says.
