Excuse me, I seem to have lost a life
I had it in my hands.
But now it’s gone and I’m in strife
I might’ve dropped it in one of many lands.
I first became aware of its absence
In Maypolewood (where marshes are)
At first I panicked, then I thought,
Maybe I’ve left it in Engeldar.
Engeldar (as you well know)
Is a cunning mess of maze.
I could not find my way around,
And left there in a daze.
Murtleford I next journeyed to;
Seaside town where mermaids reside
But I still could not find my life,
I began to feel forlorn; a single tear I cried.
So I beg you, if you’ve seen my life:
(It’s radiant, and shines like gold)
Please let me know; there’s a reward,
For now my heart is stony cold.
