Send Shivers

Send shivers in an envelope

To your loved one, with a note

That quotes a poet in the grave

Whose final words never made the page:

I want to take your heart away;

To hack it from your chest.

To lap your blood; your heart is mine!

Let’s be together for our final rest.

Make her giggle in delight

While you claw at her sea-foam eyes,

And steal the lips you so desire

For from her voice you never tire.

She’ll snarl playfully, and tweak your nose

You’ll steal her fingers and her toes

And stroke her long luscious hair

While whispering words of love and care.

Running through her body are the shivers you sent

Making each strand of hair stand on end;

Excitement courses through her veins

And all you think is “take” and “gain”.

Send shivers in an envelope

To your loved one, your betrothed

Gone are now her ears and nose

You’ve them in a box; the lid is closed.

You watch as she tries on bridal gowns

And smiles and nods, or shakes and frowns

You see a glimpse of ivory skin

You want to take it; you give in.

She cries for once when you rip her apart

And make her bleed, and maim her heart

You peel off her skin, bit by bit

Store it in a pot; preserve it.

She huddles into a small ball

But being skinless is not her fall,

She’s still alive; and though she cries

She feels love when she looks into your eyes.

Send shivers in an envelope

To your bride-to-be, to help her cope

With your wedding, it is today –

She fears she’ll scare the guests away.

Skinless, hairless, an ugly thing,

You’ve stolen all of her beauty

No eyes or ears or lips or nose

No fingers, nerves, not even toes.

She’s a lump of bleeding flesh

Held up by bones together meshed

You even took her thoughtful brain

Her heart’s all that’s left, that is plain.

Blood soaks through the white fabric

You tell her it’s not too tragic;

After all, this is her wedding day;

She’ll be happy and okay.

The wedding never even started;

From your bride’s chest her heart departed,

The urge to take it was too great;

You unburdened her body from that weight …

Send shivers in an envelope

To your new loved one, with a note …
