Once I finish filling out the certificates I place them back on the table and sit up, "Pst!! Erin and Lane wake up!" I call out to Erin, causing her to shoot up, "I'm up! What do you need?" She questions, "Can you roll the bassinets over to me and hand me the babies bag?" She nods and stands up pushing the twins over to me, and handing me the bag. The nurses knock on the door and walk in, "Are the two adorable twins ready for their first bath, and foot stamping?" One of the nurse asked, smiling super happily, "Yes! They are, Raedyn can go first!" I respond, picking Raedyn up handing him to the nurse, standing up to watch as she unswaddles him revealing his foot.
She takes some black paint from the other nurses hand and gently spreads it all over the bottom of his foot, stamping it onto the white canvas. The other nurse wipes off the black paint helping spread it onto the other foot and stamping it again. They swaddle him back up and remove his hat, carefulling taking him over the sink where there was already baby soap. She turns the water on checking the temperature with her forearm, gently running his head under the warm water, grabbing the baby soap and using a soft sponge to wash the little hair that he has. He starts to fall asleep in the nurses arm, and I grab my phone to snap a photo of him to post later on, as she takes his head back under the water to rinse the soap out, he lets out a tiny yawn, she then dries his head with a near bye sterile towel. She hands him gently back to me and makes her way over to Rowyn, and does exactly what she just did with Raedyn.
I set him down in his bassinet and the nurse stamps her foot but her feet curl up, where her twins was flattened out, toes spread apart. Then takes her over to the sink to remove her hat and starts washing her hair, which she was born with way more than Raedyn, when her head reaches the water she relaxes and starts to fall asleep but when the nurse put the soap on she started to cry. I cooed at her and tried to get her to calm down but she only stopped crying when her head was placed back under the running water. When the nurse had dried her hair off Rowyn yawned, and fell back asleep. The nurse handed me back Rowyn and told me, "All done, these babies are the first set of twins we've had in a month so they're super popular right now."
I laugh at the nurses comment and thank them as they exit the room, one nurse stops and turns around, "Oh and, a nurse will be bye to drop off your discharge forms." She states, smiling continuing to exit the room. I lay Rowyn down in her bassinet and go over to the hospital bag, pulling out their going home outfits, Erin and Lane fell back asleep on the couch when the nurses had entered and that's why I forgot they were still here, but Erin got up and picked up the canvases, examining them, "You two have created the most perfect human being." She smiles as she says that and looks down at the babies admiring them, "Thank you Wren, I can't wait to get them home." I respond smiling kissing both of the twins on their tiny foreheads.
Once I have them both all dressed I swaddle Rowyn but leave Raedyn because he did NOT want to be wrapped back up. I used some water to create a little mohawk, and it looked so adorable, I Layed back down on the bed and asked Erin to take some photos of the twins while Lane and Emerson talked amongst themselves on the couch.
I hand Emerson the discharge form and ask them to fill them out while I send Wren and Lane to the car, "Emmett can you fill out the discharge papers while I get the twins ready to leave? And Lane and Erin, can you guys go downstairs to the car and grab their carseats and bring them up?"
"Yes, I got it." Emerson responds taking the clipboard in hand and signing the papers.
"On it, lets go Lane." Erin replies grabbing his hand, and leading him out to the door, as I toss her the car keys.
They walk out of the room hand in hand, I walk over to the twins and I cradle Rowyn in my arms to take her out of her wrap, but she starts crying and I take that as a sign I should feed her so I lay back down and un-button my gown, and Emerson comes over to cover me up, "Thank you handsome." A smile instantly takes over his face when I say that and he leans in to kiss me.
After about 10 minutes I pick her up to burp her, Erin and Lane enter a couple minutes later with the carseats, "So we have to wait about 20 more minutes before we can leave...I have to feed the twins." I state, laying Rowyn down on the bed going over to pick Raedyn up and feed him, still holding the blanket close to my chest.
"No problem!" Lane responds, taking rowyn to rock her, I mouth thank you where Rowyn was nearly asleep.
Somewhere around 15 minutes Raedyn finishes eating and I burp him, then lay him back down on the bed, "Can you hand me his car seat?" I ask Erin, she nods and picks it up setting it on the bed. Holding him I pull it closer to me and gently place him in it cradling his head, buckling him in and laying his blanket over him, and holding his pacifier in his mouth till he grips on it. Then I ask for Rowyns car seat and Erin hands me it, then Lane places her in and carefully buckles her in and I lay her blanket on her and he puts her pacifier in her mouth.
I walk over to my bag and grab some sweat pants and a hoodie that was Emerson, speaking of Emmett he was put in the hall by the front desk checking us out. While I was changing I was in a lot of pain but I managed with the help of Erin, Emerson walks in as I'm walking out of the bathroom and he instantly comes over to me to help me walk and I thank him, "Thank you, but can you grab the twins?" He nods carefully passing me over to Lane, for him to help me walk, while Erin grabs the bags.
We walk out and I wave bye to the nurses and we walk out the doors, and one follows with us to make sure we get in the car safely, and I sneak a photo of Emmett holding the twins in their carseats, I smile and put my phone back away using Lane to balance looking back at Erin to check on her and she smiles.
We get to the elevator and the nurse presses a button so we go down to the first floor, I look down at the twins and smile at how precious they are. We reach the first floor and Emerson grabs the twins car seats, and walks out while me, Wren, Lane, and the sweet nurse follow behind. We walk out to see our car parked in front of us, we approach the car and the nurse opens the door, Emerson places the twins in the base and clicks them in place one by one. The nurse checks both car seats and sends us off, Lane and Erin sit on the third row while me and Emmett are in the front seat. I fall asleep on the way home, knowing if the babies needed anything Wren would take care of it and if they cried I would hear them, and Emerson wouldn't want to wake me up because he knows how tired I am.
