"You sure you don't want me to come with you?" Clint asked while hanging above the car's open door as he was seeing Kate off
"Clint you bugged me for a whole week about how much you wanted to come home to your family for the holidays and now you insist on taking me to the airport?" she asked "Like do you think I'll get lost in the way or something?" she asked moving her arms in exaggeration and Clint just scoffed
"I was just trying to be nice but okay see you hopefully never again" he shut the door and looked at her in a dead serious manner. He hit the car's roof to signal the driver to start the vehicle.
Kate smiled widely and sat straight up on her seat "Bye Clint! See you next year!" she shouted as she waved goodbye to him and he shook his head at her last joke. He wasn't the type to enjoy these jokes

Kate arrived to New York happier than she expected given she was about to head to a very big but empty apartment knowing her mom was probably in some cold police cell eating porridge

She didn't want to think about it

She got off the plane and took a cab home. She hoped that her mother had some cash back there since she still had her credit card canceled. That was quite an inconvenience now that she was basically in jail.

But you know she was responsible for Armand's death and all so it made sense

Probably

It wasn't a good idea to second guess her own decisions so Kate headed home in that cab thinking of all the movies she was going to watch on the plasma TV or the music that she'd blast during the remaining of the holidays. After that she was intending to go back to her mom's old company and see if they were about to confiscate everything or if they were to at least leave the doors

Truth was Kate knew nothing about management. Or working especially long hours. And now she was facing a new problem and that was the lack of money. She wasn't an avenger and even if she was one she'd still have no source of income. So she was faced with the question of what would her next big business move be. Especially now that her mom was... Well absent and all of the transactions were frozen

She had plenty of time to ponder during her time alone at the penthouse

When the elevator door open and she heard the familiar sound of the bell, Kate was met with the distinctive and very impressive pendent ceiling. She admired it as she walked in and brought back to her brain the memory of when she tried to swing like Spiderman. It wasn't such a good idea but it was an indication that ever since she was a child she had a natural tendency to heroism.

She left her suitcase by the stairs thinking that she'd carry it up some other time and took her coat off. She then headed towards the living room. The brunette placed her palms on the couch and felt the silk as she run her fingers across its back. She sighed indolently and somewhat desperately as she was getting in the picture of what her holidays would look like; lonely without even her Pizza dog and boring since she had nothing left to do. All that heroic life was gone the moment Kingpin was gone and though she didn't want to admit it she kinda wished she could do it again. Even if she put so many people including herself in danger.

A loud thud coming from the kitchen woke her from her revearie. Her eyebrows shot up and she slowly turned around, crouched and headed to the kitchen while tiptoeing.

She reached the door and hid behind the wall while she could hear her heartbeat on her ears. And just as she was about to rail herself to the battle cry she heard a familiar voice with a strong Russian accent

"No need to be hostile Kate. I'm just making some noodles" Yelena stirred the pot on the stove.

Kate, being taken aback, widened her eyes in disbelief. She took 2 seconds before she got out of cover and asked in surprise "Yelena?" she tilted her head in question.
