"It's time to blow out the candle and make a wish," her mother said, causing her to snap out of her thoughts. Her father presented her with a single cupcake, which had moss green spots and a layer of fuzz covering it. "Where did you get this from?" Mary Jane asked, disgust evident in her voice. "Found it in between the couch cushions," her father replied. "It looked edible enough. Now, blow out the candle and make a wish." Mary Jane should have been sad, but she no longer felt sadness. So instead of crying, or trying to get away from her horrible family, she closed her eyes, and thought about her wish. "I wish I was dead," she thought to herself. "It would be better than my miserable life."
