Fishing and digging holes

I wake up in the tent with dad right by me. "How are feeling champ" he smiles "I'm feeling ok dad what happened"  dad smiled "you got hit Ed with a stick he hit back and kicked ya when you were down. You may have a concussion and some bruising in your stomach that's Amy's best guess she had taken a sports medicine class you need to take it easy today champ" I sit up slowly he helps me out of the tent " I'm ok to walk dad where is Amy I want to thank her. " she is fishing in the middle of the lake champ you'll have to wait to thank her." I nod " remember take it easy no climbing trees ok" he ruffles my hair and I walk over to Carl.
Carl is looking out on tho the lake from a spot in camp. " Jay what happened earlier I saw Shane carrying you but mom said to let you rest" I sit down next to him "I tried to stop Ed but got beat up" I look down I should have been better. " I don't like Ed he is mean to Sophia and her mom." Carl doesn't stop looking at the boat as he speaks " me either," I want to spend as much time as possible with him before his mom makes him stop being my friend. I have to be careful with my words " Carl would we still be friends if our parents weren't?" He gives me a look like I just told a ridiculous joke. "Of course Jay don't be silly" he is giggling now " what is they hated each other?" I can't look at him as I speak. I feel his hands on by back " yeah that's what no matter what means" I look at him and smile he smiles back.
"Carl come help Jacqui with the hang the laundry." Lori is walking up to us she stops when she sees me " Jacob will you please help also?" Why is she being nice to me I thought she hated me. She hates my dad for sure. Maybe I misunderstood her no she hates me she is just trying to look good for Carl.
"So you just put the clothes over the line then use the  pins to hold them in place." Jacqui smiles as she explains it. " oh this one is still really wet here you strong boys twist it." She hands one end to me and the other to Carl. " Jacob twist it right and Carl left please." I twist it right as we twist it lots of water comes out we twist it until it folds in on itself so much Carl's and my foreheads touch. We stare at each other I smile he smiles back and we both start laughing.  Jacqui shakes her head smiling taking the now damp shirt from us " you silly boys you two remind me of my nephews they were twins. Oh my gosh" She pauses covers her mouth with her hands she looks like she will cry " I'm ok let's get back to it then"  she shakes her head again but she's not smiling now. We get back to laundry there's not much talking.
Andrea and Amy come with lots of fish. "Whoa" Carl voices his amazement. I didn't know you could catch that many fish with a rod a reel. "Thank you so much because of you my child will eat tonight" Morales says. Everyone is thanking the sisters I'm thankful to but I wonder why nobody thanks the Dixons brothers when they come back from a hunt. Donna says something to her husband about boy doing women's work and women doing mens work.  I find he annoying but nothing I can do about it so I try to ignore her. Andrea speaks to everyone when she says " y'all should thank Dale it's his gear"  Carl gets excited " mom look at all the fish" " I've never seen that much fish before." I voice my own amazement.  " where you learn to do that" Lori asks " our dad" Andrea answers " can you teach me that?" Carl asks. I nod " I want to learn to" Amy smiles " sure kids we'll tech you all about nail knots and stuff if that's ok with you" the last part being to Lori. Who says " you won't catch me arguing" Andrea speaks up " you can teach Carl about nail knots I'm teaching the Walsh boy about fisherman knots and wet lures. I got dibs is that ok Shane" she is smiling at her own joke I laugh so much I snort.  Dad speaks " yeah I hate to say it but your a better fisher than me" that sends another round of laughter. Still laughing Amy says " so they can compete ?"  Andrea nods "Yep!" She snorts.
Dales walks up he looks like something is wrong. "When was the last time you oiled those line reels Dale they were in a  horrible state." He puts his hands together " I uh .. I don't want to alarm anyone but we may have a bit of a problem." He turns around looking a the hill where a man  is digging. " is that Jim?" My question goes unanswered.
Jim is digging holes he has already dug a lot. He keeps stabbing the dig with his shovel. I stroke Lady's neck part to comfort her part for my own comfort. Dad stands in front of Jim with feet apart and his hand on his hips. " Jim buddy hold up just give me a second here please" Jim stop at my dads words standing up and looking at him " what do you want" dad takes his hand apart and puts them together " we were just concerned is all" Morales speaks up " Dale said you have been out here for hours" Jim looks at everyone "So?" Dad shakes his head "So why you digging ya trying to get to china?" Dad smiles at his joke but Jim doesn't he starts digging " I'm not hurting anyone" Lori steps forward " they won't say it but I will Jim your scaring people your scaring the boys and carols daughter" I'm not scared I'm just worried I sit down to pet Lady better ok maybe I'm a little nervous. Jim stops and moves his hand around " they got nothing to be scared of like I said I'm not hurting anyone I'm out here by myself why can't you just leave me the hell alone" Jim goes back to digging. Dad reaches for Jim's shovel " we think you need to take a break why don't you sit in the shade and we'll bring you water some food. Then after you rest a bit We can dig together I'll help you. Just explain it to me. Why don't you give me that shovel" Jim stops looks dad right in the face before speaking "Or what?!" Dad shakes his head " there is no or what I'm just asking you please I don't want to have to take it from you" Jim  and looks at dad" if I don't then what you'll beat my face in like Ed aren't you? Y'all seen what he did what's left of his face" Jim leans in that's what happens when someone crosses you huh!" dad shakes his head " that was different Jim" I can't stand that Jim thought dad hurt Ed for no reason. Amy defends dad " you weren't there Ed beat his wife and attack Jacob!" Jim  stops digging and takes steps toward Amy pointing at her " that is their marriage not his and I heard Jacob attacked first little brat deserve what he got. Shane is not judge jury and executioner. Who made you king boss huh?!" Dad reaches for the shovel " I don't want to argue with you all right just hand me the shovel ok?" Jim jerks it away "no no"
Jim suddenly swings the shovel at dad before I knew it someone is screaming "NO DAD!" Lady runs up to Jim. She dodges the swing of the shovel and bites Jim's leg he screams and is going hit her again I'm running to her I need to protect her my running is stopped by somebody grabbing me in my middle.
I watch as dad tackles Jim to the ground commanding Lady to let go " no one is going to hurt you Jim" he is handcuffing him as he says it " that's the biggest lie of them all that's what I told my wife my two boys it didn't matter the dead came out of the woods and my family slipped through my fingers the only reason I got away was because the dead were too busy with my family" that makes me stop I can't imagine losing my family dad Carl Lady Uncle Rick and Lori. I know that dad said they could die any day but I don't want that to happen I don't want to think about it. Jim's pain must be horrible I can understand him freaking out he is scared. I already forgive him for what he said about me but I understand but I'm not sure if I can to forgive him for attacking dad and Lady. I look up to see it's Morales holding me " whoa kid clam down you'll just get yourself hurt you can't go in Leroy Jenkins it's not safe" I nod at his words then look away I wish he wasn't right I don't want to be weak. I have no idea who Leroy Jenkins is.

I'm cutting it off here Jacob didn't have much to do this chapter. I tried not to make it word for word what they said in the show but some lines are going to be.
Jim is a character I don't hate or love he is well written and acted but the character was also ok with domestic violence which is not ok. But he also hat heat stroke and said he was sorry for scaring the kids I believe he meant it.
Jacob is trying to be brave but is still a child.
Lori is trying to repair the relationship between her and Jacob
I'm starting to think of Lady as more of a shepherd looking dog not a like German shepherd but maybe more of a American shepherd or Collie and lab or golden thrown in there but I also want her to have short hair because grooming in the apocalypse is hard. If you got a different picture in mind go for it her looks don't really matter she just a medium mutt and is a good girl.
What are characters you want to live
I say like I'm talking to someone and not going to finish the first season before posting it.
