Chapter 4: Behind the sea

 "Class, we have a new student today." Mr. Rexus said, my teacher. "Would you like to introduce yourself?" I guess that's me.

 I stepped forward. "Hi everyone. My name is Sydney." I got a few smiles from the class.

 "Would you like to tell the class your hobbies or stuff like that?" He said with a smile. I think.

 "I sing, draw, and I play a lot of instruments." I looked around the room and found a blonde girl glaring at me.

 "What instruments." She said still glaring.

 "Um well, I play guitar, bass, ukulele, piano, drums, French horn, violin, trumpet, and some other things." I smiled at her. The class was in awe. My teacher was smiling.

 "Well, I find that hard to believe. Why don't you show-" Mr. Rexus cut her off.

 "Rina, stop." He said. She continued to glare at me. "Sydney why don't you take a seat next to Karen." He pointed to an empty chair next to a girl with dark brown hair. She was wearing a Panic At The Disco shirt. Well, this works out. Later on in this story, you will see why me sitting next to her was so important.

 I walked over and took my seat. "Nice shirt." I said to her with a smile. 

 "Thanks! Panic is my favorite band." She said smiling. I think I just found a friend.

FAST FORWARD TO 2ND PERIOD

 "Ok, so we are going to do a partner activity." Rexus said. Karen and I looked at each other smiling. "You both must find a song you both know and perform in front of the class. You can use any instruments in the room. You don't have to sing but it is encouraged. The first group to perform gets 10 points extra credit."

 Karen turned to me. "Let's go first. How about the song Behind The Sea by Panic?" She said. I nodded.

 "I know it on guitar." I say, getting up.

 "Ok so you grab an acoustic guitar and I'll go get a bass guitar. Go tell Mr. Rexus that we are going first." I smiled and nodded.

 "Mr. Rexus," I said sending silence across the loud room. "Karen and I are gonna perform first if that's fine." I said smiling. Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at me. I grabbed an acoustic guitar and sat on one of the two stools that were in front of the class. Karen walked over and sat on the other. "Ok, so the song we are going to perform is called Behind the sea. It's by a band called Panic! At The Disco." I smiled as I saw some of the faces in the class light up.

 I started to sing and play the guitar. Everyone looked really surprised. As I sang, Karen sang some of the parts in harmony. In my mind, it was absolutely beautiful.

 After we finished, the class started clapping really loudly. I saw some guys eyeing me. The I looked at Rina who's face was red. She was glaring even more at me than before. "Girls, that was absolutely amazing. I'd like to see who could top that." He smiled and wrote our grade down.

 After the bell rang I began to walk to my locker to grab my sketch book for art. I felt a hand grab my shoulder and jolt me around. Rina was now standing in front of me. "I see what you are trying to do. Take my place in the class. You see Sydney, I'm the singer in that class. Stop trying to top my standards. Okay?" I stared at her for a minute and then burst into laughter.

 "Are you kidding me? I'm not trying to steal your spotlight. I was just doing what I was supposed to be doing." She turned even redder.

 "I swear, you're never gonna get anywhere in life." She said with a grin. "I can actually sing"
