I don't understand.

Chapter 4.

Today was my first day at my new school in Glenroy. Am I scared? Shit yes I'm scared I don't know anybody or how to get around anywhere!
Mum walked me straight into the office where I was greeted with an angry sounding "you must be Sophie" from an older looking woman who was working there. I nod in agreement and she took me to my homegroup. The class was already in there and I felt so akward. My homegroup teacher 'miss Katie' seemed nice. She ran up and gave me a hug and introduced me to the class. "Everyone this is Sophie. Please try to make her feel welcome. I'm sure she is very scared." Yeah I was scared. And embarrassed. My mum left and miss Katie yelled out to someone named "Luke" to wave to me signalling for me to sit next to them on the two seater desk. I walked up and sat down. He leant over and whispered "hi I'm Luke." I smiled and whispered back "hey I'm Sophie. You can call me 'Soph' if you like" he smiled back then after Miss Katie read out the bulletin we went to lesson 1 which was maths. I personally hate maths but Luke is with me so I guess I'll be alright. The maths room is at the other side of the school so it took like 10 mins to get there. "Luke, I-I-I'm scared." I really was though I got a lot of stares. This one group of guys came up behind me and slapped my arse. "Hey!" I yelled out and they ran off. Luke put the finger up and said to me "don't worry that's just my older brother and his group of friends. He was the one that slapped you" to be honest the one that slapped me was hot. Woah I only got a quick glimpse of him but he was gorgeous. Luke startled me out of my day dream by waving his hand infront of my face then because we were walking he accidentally hit me. "What?" I blurted out. Luke laughed at me. "I was telling you that that was my brother Beau, he slapped you." I looked slightly shocked. "Oh okay." I quietly said.
After a double lesson of maths it was recess. Luke took me over to where he sits and explained that his friends were on a sports camp and won't be back until Friday. Whilst we were eating Beaus group of friends came over to us and started teasing Luke. "Who's the nerd Luke?" One of them said. I'm not a nerd what the hell. "You got yourself a new girl hey Luke?" Beau said. "Actually I do!" Luke said as he snaked him arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him. Beau looked at him angrily because Luke had just shut down his comeback. Beau kicked me then ran off. I bruise really easily and there was already and black and blue mark coming up on my shin. "Why did he do that?" I asked Luke. "He's an idiot I'm sorry I promise I will protect you from him." I just replied with a simple "okay" and hugged into Luke's chest sobbing because of my bruise which actually hurt. He put both of his arms around me then whispered "so where do we stand? You're apparently my girl now so I guess we shouldn't act like we're not" I looked up in thought and he winked at me. He was really cute actually. "It's up to you. I'm more than happy being your girl, Luke" I said and he nodded and kissed my forehead.
