Nick and I were on our way to meet April and Colby at catering. On the way, we were talking about the most random things.
"No, actually dogs are better than cats." I tell Nick.
"No!" He protests. "Cats can jump really high and they land on their feet all the time!"
I looked over at him. "Nick, I used to have a cat who always used to jump on my counter to my refrigerator. One time he tried jumping, and he did not land on his feet." I say.
"Most cats always land on their feet then." He says, looking over at me with a smile. I stick my tongue out at him, and he does the same.
"So immature." I say, turning my head to look straight ahead.
"Hey, I'm not the one who started it." He smiled.
We heard a throat being cleared, and we look over to our right. Jon leans against the wall, glaring at us.
I become nervous, and a bit angry. I know how Jon is, and I don't want him to say anything to Nick about what had happened the day before between Jon and I.
"Is there something you want?" Nick asks Jon.
Jon shifts, and then speaks. "Yeah." HE says. "Her." He points a finger at me. My heart begins to pound, and I am praying that Jon and Nick don't get into some sort of fight at our job. I look up at Nick, but he doesn't seem to pay attention. All his attention is focused on the man who had just said he wants me. I see Nick slowly walk towards Jon, and I follow.
"Well you aren't gonna get her." Nick says. Jon scoffs.
"You aren't the one who decides that. You guys aren't even officially dating."
"Jon, how do you know?" I ask him.
"I have my ways." He replies with a smirk. "Don't think I forgot about yesterday."
I gasp.
"What about yesterday?" Nick asks, obviously confused at what we were talking about.
"Nothing!" I assure him. I turn my attention back to Jon. "We are together, actually." I said. My hand entwines with Nick's hand. The expression on Jon's face is unreadable.
"And since when did this happen?" He asks, glaring at Nick.
"Two days ago. Nick asked me if I would like to be his girlfriend and I said yes." I respond.
I look up to see Nick smiling, and I can't help but smile at him.
"Can I have a word with you, Kathryn?" Jon asks, still glaring at Nick. Man, if looks could kill . . .
Nick looks down at me, and I hesitantly nod.
Our hands are separated, and I follow Jon into another room, away from Nick.
"What do you want?" I ask.
"I already told you what I want." Jon replies.
"Well, you lost your chance. I believe it's time for you to move on."
"Didn't I tell you? I haven't gotten over you yet. I tried to get over you with Renee, but that girl is no where near perfect, unlike you." He says, seductively smirking at me. His hand travels up to my cheek, but I slap it off.
"Paws off." I tell him. He chuckles.
"I missed you, Kathryn." He says before quickly pressing his lips against mine.
I try to fight back. I really do try, but Jon grips my wrists with just one hand.
And I can't help but feel a mixture of anger and happiness. I'm angry because here he is, kissing me when he has a girlfriend, and when I'm well on my way to having a new boyfriend. I'm happy because he isn't over me. He still loves me.
And no matter how much I say I hate him, I really don't. I love him.
I give in, and Jon lets go of my wrists, allowing my hands to roam around and get tangled in his hair. We hear footsteps coming our way, but Jon doesn't seem to care. He still kisses me.
"What the hell?!" We hear.
The kiss is broken and I look to my left to see a very angry Nick.
Fuck.
How am I going to explain this to him?
