"Nick, I can explain!"

"I have no time for hearing an explanation, Kathryn." Nick tells me. I look at Jon, who is smiling. Nick turns his attention away from me and over to the man who caused this mess.

"You son of a bitch." Nick says. "You think this is funny?"

Jon chuckles. "Yeah, I do. You know, Kathryn was actually enjoying it, but you had to come in and ruin all the fun." He says.

We all look over to a short man with brown hair walking over to us. "Kathryn, your match is next." He says, then walks away in the direction he came from. I look at Nick. "Please, come to my hotel later so we can talk." I say. Nick sighs.

I walk past him, with Jon following behind, since he has to take me out to my match tonight.

"Damn it, Jon. Why did you have to do that?!" I ask, obviously angry at him. I look up at him to see him looking straight ahead and smiling. I roll my eyes.

"Don't be like that, Kathryn. Come on, you know you liked it." He tells me. His elbow pokes my arm.

Well, yeah, I did like it. I'm not gonna lie. I miss feeling the feeling with Jon that I always used to have. I miss the smell of him. I miss touching him.

Focus, Kathryn. You've got a match.

Right.

"Can we just hurry up?" I ask impatiently.

"You're not denying it." He says with a smile.

Once again, I roll my eyes.

"Hey, after your match, I have to talk to you about something." Jon says.

"You already had the chance to talk to me and you blew it." I respond.

"Just one more."

I sigh.

"I'll take that as a yes." He says, looking at me. He winks, and I shrug.

My match with Summer Rae had just ended, with me winning, of course.

Jon and I are backstage, since he had told me that he wanted to speak to me about something.

We're in an empty room with a few tables and cardboard boxes. A single light is hung on the ceiling.

"So, what do you want to talk to me about?" I ask him, looking up into his eyes. I sit up on one of the tables while Jon stands in front of me.

"Kathryn, please listen to me when I say this." He begins, his eyes never leaving mine. "I love you. I can't stop thinking about you. Every day, I come to work and I see you laughing with Nick or April and I just wish that I hadn't screwed things up. We had a good thing going, and it was all my fault that it has all perished. Kathryn, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything I've put you through." He says.

Bullshit.

I'm not falling for it again.

"Why did you do it, Jon?" I ask him.

There it was. The question I've been wanting to ask him for such a long time. The question I've wanted an answer for.

"Honestly, I was going through a tough time. Something happened and you were the only person I had left. I couldn't lose you." He tells me.

"It would be really help me if you could tell me what that something was."

He sighs, and it takes him a moment before he can actually respond. He scratches the back of his head, and then looks at me. "My sister died." He states.

"Oh my God." I whisper in shock.

"Jon, I'm so sorry." I whisper. I grab both of his hands and hold them. I look into his eyes. "I'm so sorry."

Jon had lived a not-so-great childhood. His mother became an alcoholic, and his father is in prison for the rest of his life. All Jon had left was his little sister, and then he met me. Then he lost his sister, and that's what made him act the way he did in our relationship.

Jon basically has no one left. He is only dating Renee to get over me, but apparently that isn't working. He has no one.

"All I want for her is to have a good life." I remember Jon telling me a while back.

A tear falls out of Jon's eye, and he looks down.

"Jon . . ." I say. He makes eye contact with me once again. My heart pounds at what I'm about to do.

Without thinking, I lean in and press my lips to Jon's. I close my eyes and allow myself to savor this moment.

When I pull away, Jon is shocked. He looks at me like a miracle just happened, and a bit of confusion.

"I'm sorry." I say one more time. I get off of the table and wrap my arms around him.

I breathe in his sweet scent and close my eyes. "It'll be okay." I say.

Jon's arms hold me tight, like he never wants to let me go.

"I'm not going anywhere. I promise." I say.

"She died from a car crash, Kathryn." I hear Jon say quietly. His voice is shaky.

My eyelids pop open, and I look up at Jon who has tears streaming down his face.

"Oh my God." I whisper once again, since I can't think of anything else to say. Tears begin to fall out of my eyes. Jon wipes them away. "Don't cry, Kathryn." Jon says, wiping my tears away.

I lean my head back against his chest, and we stand there together, arms wrapped around one another, with no one making a sound.
