"Be safe, you two!" April says.
After Smackdown was over, all the girls had went to the club. Brie's husband had decided to watch Amelia while us girls were having our fun. I remember Bryan telling Brie not to get too drunk, which made us all laugh.
Plus, I needed a night out. After everything that's happened, I believe that I deserved this. A night out at the club is exactly what I needed to get my mind off of things.
And here we are now, the next morning. Amelia and I are going to go get some things at the store while April hangs out with Colby for a while.
"We'll be safe." I say, looking over at April with a smile. I look down at Amelia who is all ready to go.
"Let's go get in the car, hon." I tell her. She nods excitedly and runs to the door. I look back at April one more time and wave before I head out the door with my niece. On the way down to the car, I decide to make a quick call to Jon. He's been ignoring me ever since I left his hotel yesterday.
Three rings, and then he answers.
"Hello?" I hear him ask in his raspy voice.
"Jon? It's Kathryn." I say.
"Oh, uh, hey Kathryn. What's up?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to meet at the frozen yogurt place?" I ask hopefully.
I hear shuffling in the background and then some whispering, but I can't make out what is being said.
"Yeah, sure. I'll meet you there in twenty minutes. Okay?"
"Yeah, that's fine. See you there." I say, smiling.
"See you." Jon says. I hang up the phone and put it back in my purse. I look down at Amelia, then at our entwined hands. "Want to get some frozen yogurt?" I ask her.
She looks up at me and starts jumping up and down. "Yeah! I love frozen yogurt!"
My smile grows wider because of the girl's happiness. Instead of driving to the frozen yogurt shop, I decide to walk there since the shop is not far from the hotel, and it would be stupid to drive there. It's also a nice day out, so why not allow Amelia to get some fresh air?
I know why I invited Jon out today. I'm finally going to tell him that I'm ready to be in a relationship again. After all the pain and heartbreak I've been through, I thought about it once I got home last night and I'm finally ready. Jon is going to be so happy when I tell him.
Amelia and I walk into the shop to see Jon already sitting down. He's distracting himself by playing on his phone.
I look down at Amelia, hand her some money and tell her to go get whatever she wants. She giggles and runs off, probably feeling like a big girl since she has money. I sit by Jon, and the sudden action causes him to look up from his phone. He smiles once he sees me. "Hey." He says.
"Hi, Jon."
"How are you?" He asks.
I shrug. "I'm alright."
I hear him take a deep breath and watch as he awkwardly puts his phone back in his pocket. What's wrong with him?
He clears his throat and looks over at Amelia who is putting toppings on her frozen yogurt.
I put my hand on his arm and he tenses up. "Jon?" I ask. He looks at me, and down at my hand, then back up at me. I take my hand off of his arm and quietly apologize.
"Is something wrong?"
He stays quiet for a few seconds, probably trying to find the right words to say. "Uh, Kathryn. I just want you to know that you're an absolutely amazing person." He says. I feel my cheeks heat up just a bit.
"But, we can't be doing all this 'friends with benefits' thing anymore."
Friends with benefits? Since when did it become friends with benefits?
"I found someone new and I really like her." He says quietly.
It feels like my heart just shattered in pieces. I planned on telling Jon my feelings for him right in this frozen yogurt shop only to hear him say that he's found someone new. He's found someone to love while I'm left behind like trash. Hell, I even feel like trash. The tears threaten to spill out of my eyes, but I do my best to keep them from doing so. I don't want Jon to know that he's just broken my heart by telling me that he found love again.
"Um, congratulations, Jon. I'm happy for you." I say quietly.
""Uh, wanna see what she looks like?" He asks me.
The last thing I would do is see a fucking picture of his new girlfriend. But I can't let him know that I'm sitting here feeling crushed in a million pieces because of the news I have received.
I nod my head and manage to fake a smile.
He pulls out his phone and scrolls through his pictures before he finds the one that he wants to show me.
On the screen is a beautiful woman with tanned skin, brown hair, and hazel-like eyes. She's really pretty, I admit. Just looking at her makes me want to cry.
"Her name is Anna. She works for some modeling company." He says. I see him smile at his phone before he puts it in his pocket.
"We've been talking for about two months now, and I finally asked her out yesterday evening." He says, obviously proud of himself.
"Well I'm happy for you." I fake a smile once again.
Amelia comes back to the table right when Jon's phone rings.
"Look at what I got Aunt Kathryn!"
I look at her full cup to see rainbow sprinkles, gummy bears, Swedish fish, strawberry slices, chocolate, blueberries, and more toppings in her over flowing cup. I think there's more toppings than frozen yogurt.
"Looks yummy!"
I look over at Jon, who had just gotten off the phone with whoever he was talking to. "Sorry, it was Anna. We're going to get breakfast. I gotta go." He smiles at me apologetically, then looks over at Amelia. "Hey, sweetie." He says giving her a high five.
"Hi, Uncle Jon!"
I mentally slap myself.
Jon leaves the store, leaving Amelia and I to sit together.
"Is it good, sweetie?" I ask, referring to her frozen yogurt. She nods excitedly and stuffs a bite of it in her mouth.
A single tear falls out of my eye while I look at the door that Jon has just walked out of.
My heart has been broken once again.
