"Sky! Psst, sky!" I felt some consistent tapping on my shoulder as someone tried to distract me from sleeping.
"Sky, wake the fuck up or you aren't coming for a surf with me this morning" my older sister, Summer, persuaded me.
That got me going.
Summer and I have always gone for morning swims for as long as I can remember.
Basically, everyone in my family surfs.
In my family, it's weird if you don't surf.
"Can you two shut the fuck up?" that would be my lovely older brother, Blake.
Blake just happened to appear at Summer and I's bedroom doorway, looking half-asleep still.
He occasionally comes for a surf in the morning with me and Summer, but some mornings he is too grouchy to get out of bed.
Just like this morning.
"Why don't you shut the fuck up Blake?" Summer retorted as I climbed out of my bed.
Don't just love sibling banter at 5:30 in the morning?
"I told you to shut up first" Blake returned.
"Who cares? Just shut up, all of you" Shane's voice vibrated down the hallway, causing us to all shut up.
I quickly grabbed my light-blue bikinis and my black wet suit and took them into the bathroom.
I slipped my bikini's on, then pulled my wet suit on so it sat around my waist.
I then walked back into Summer and I's bedroom to grab a beach bag so that I could put my stuff in it.
I grabbed a towel, sunscreen, water, and the stuff to clean my board.
I then threw on an oversized shirt while I put some shorts in my bag for the trip back.
Summer then reappeared at our bedroom door, suited up.
The two of us silently walked down the hallway of bedrooms and then made our way down the stairs.
We both made our way into the kitchen, grabbing a piece of fruit each, as we then opened the back door, to be met with our toes sinking into the sand.
My family and I really did live the life that others dreamed of.
We had the beach on our back doorstep.
"Hurry up you two" Shane called from the board shed.
I didn't know Shane was coming this morning.
Shane is the eldest and our caregiver.
He provides us the lifestyle we currently live.
Shane handed me my surfboard, as I quickly latched the band onto my ankle, before continuing to walk down the beach towards the water.
