Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

OLIVE REALLY HAD TO decide on when she should tell the Headmaster about her. . . knowledge. She had tried, she really had. She had stopped just around the corner from his office multiple times, but was unable to take even one step further than that. She didn't know why she couldn't. She just knew it didn't feel right. Every step towards the Headmasters office felt utterly exhausting. It was as if one step weighed heavily enough on her that she had to take a few seconds to collect herself before taking another.

Once again. . . she didn't know why.
And it wasn't like she was making any progress by herself. She couldn't get ahold of the ring, which she knew Dumbledore would be able to to: although she wondered if him finding the ring would consequently lead to his death like it had in the books. Only this time, a lot earlier. She knew Dumbledore could help in destroying the Diadem, so why couldn't she just tell him?

She had always been a control freak.

She sat cross-legged on the floor of her and Dorcas' shared dormitory, the redhead's eyes sparkling with delight as she levitated a small, makeshift feathered toy in the air. Her wand lay forgotten on the bed; she didn't need it for this simple bit of magic. Reggie, her tiny, gray kitten, pounced and swatted at the floating toy, his eyes wide with kittenish wonder.

Dorcas lounged on Olive's bed, propped up by a mountain of pillows. She laughed heartily at Reggie's clumsy attempts to catch the toy. "You're going to tire him out, Liv."

Olive grinned, her attention never wavering from the playful kitten. "He loves it, though. Look at him go!"

Reggie leaped high, his little paws flailing in the air before he landed in a heap, quickly recovering and eyeing the toy for his next attack. The toy floated higher, just out of Reggie's reach, making him meow in frustration.

Olive lowered it slightly, giving him another chance. "I think he's going to make it this time," she whispered conspiratorially to Dorcas.

Reggie crouched low, wiggling his haunches before springing up with all his might. This time, his paws closed around the toy, and he tumbled to the floor in a triumphant heap. Olive clapped her hands in delight, and Dorcas cheered.
