Out of the huts of history's shame

I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,

OLIVE HAD BEEN RESEARCHING death and everything regarding the subject quite frequently in her spare time. And she often had spare time. The book she had 'burrowed' from the library had slowly but surely turned into manic scribbles by the middle of it. The words 'death' and 'Thanatos' had been mentioned at least three times on every page.

As she had suspected, it had ended in suicide. The writer had 'finally understood that the only way to know for sure was to experience it himself'.

Very grim and depressing, she had thought. But she had moved on nonetheless.

It plagued her mind, sure, but she had other things to worry about. Despite not being as smart as Lily was academically, she still surpassed everyone when it came to preforming magic. That made her excellent at Charms, Transfiguration, and most importantly, Defense Against the Dark Arts. She was okay at everything else.

Okay at potions. Okay at Herbology and Astronomy. She was absolutely crushing History of Magic, mostly because of all the research she does in the library. Weirdly enough, she never actually tried to study History of Magic. When researching different spells, it all came rather naturally.

She needed to know the history behind the spells after all.

"Nah, come on thats fucking cheating!" Olive exclaimed, angrily. She slapped James frustratingly on his shoulder, which made him let out a yelp in pain. "You can't loose your Queen like that, it's shameful! When you loose her like that you resign — I watched Queen's gambit!"

Olive was looming over James, who was sitting comfortably in one of the maroon armchairs inside of the Gryffindor common room. It was early afternoon on a cold ass Friday, and Dorcas and her had been so generously invited into the famous Gryffindor common room because she dungeons had been too cold to do anything in other than half freeze to death.

"It's wizards chess, Liv. What do you expect?" Sirius said in confusion. "You loose pawns all the time!"

"Remus, tell him!" Olive called out, crossing her arms over her chest. The kind werewolf glanced over at his two friends before rolling his eyes. "Remus? You fucking traitor!"
